Hey guys I got a BTA abotu a month and a half ago and my clowns never took to it, i think its cause they were tank bread, but I dont want to sit here and watch it die. so if anybody is interested just let me know

I don't know if your clowns ever take up a residence in your BTA, but my clowns took two long years before they showed any interest in hosting something other than my Loc-line on my return. They finally took a notice of my Frogspawns when I moved two Frogspawns over to their favorite corner of the tank. Now they won't leave their Frogspawns alone.

It won't die because the clowns didn't take to it.

Actually it's the other way around: clowns are known to squash and stress out (may even kill) small BTA's.

I understand that BTA's and many anemone generally need a mature tank with rather pristine water.

Same with mine... until a few months later the male decided enough was enough and dove into the overflow... gaaaaah such bad timing on that one.

H@rry and Tomoko are spot on, Your clowns hosting it won't help keep it alive.. Its true that they could even end up hurting it if they did host.

Ive got a BTA and my clowns ignore it.. They hang out by a return line.. In my other tank I dont have a BTA, But those clowns host a finger Leather..

I've thought about sticking my clowns in a small tank connected to my system with nothing but a BTA and maybe one rock in the tank.. Just to see if they would knotice it.. I figured once they started hosting it that maybe they would stick to it after I moved them back to the main tank.. But who knows..

i would take it...as mine split when i got home from the store a few months back then one died a few months ago and the other died the other day or i should say just disappeared...so needless to say i dont have any luck with anemones but i am positive mine would inhabit immediately

What makes you think your anemone would die? Do you have inadequate lighting or water quality?

Is a green or a red BTA? What approximate size? Is it otherwise healthy and eating properly?

They like alot of light and good water flow.. If they dont have it they will keep moving till they find it.. If it won't stop moving around then its a good chance your tank has an issue either with the above or water quality..

Ocellaris/Percula don't normally host BTA's, which might be your problem... GSM's prefer them though... Clowns have little to do with an anemone surviving... If they start hosting them sometimes they'll feed the anemones, but thats the extent of their care...

i have a standard 30g tank with a 140w PC lighting. I have a penguine 350 hob filter and a aqua c remora skimmer with maxi jet 1200 and 2 maxi jet 600's so i got plenty of water flow and all my paramaters are at 0. so i really dont know what is going on. the bta is a green tip and is about 4" when open. It just looks like it might be dying cause it kinda shrinks at night and sometimes durin the day.

You can't really go by them Shrinking up.. They just do that.. If it seems like it does it ALOT then it might be a problem. I've got a few anemones I"ve had since 04 and probably 1/3 of the times I walk in that room one of them looks deflated. I'd be more worried about it not staying in one spot for any length of time.. Also it doesn't hurt to target feed them some shrimp from time to time.. I buy frozen shrimp at the grocery store.. I feed each 1/2 shrimp. I do this proably about once a week. If they don't take it I just try again the next day.. If yours wont eat after a couple days then thats a pretty good sign its in trouble..

Be sure you have the intakes to these pumps covered with foam -- pump intakes are like anemone magnets. Shredded anemone is not fun to clean up.
