Well now that our electric bill is $7.51 a month I thought we might get some 250 halides. I've been reading up on the Infinity and like the sliding/adjustable halides. Any thoughts on your experience would be nice.

I'm useing a 150 Outer Orbit now and think the 250 should bring out more colors on the Torts and Stags.

Tank a 60" 110, so looking at the 48" fixture

$7 cust charge, $.51 taxes. They read again on the 12th and even with clouds and rain we are at 201 KWH credit today. Working out better then expected, since we got a late start this year. Next year we will be banking starting in march, I believe.

Last months bill a year ago was $179 and this month was $178

That's very cool. Just the other day, some of us were wondering about how your solar was working out. Glad to hear it is.

Yea, we did it as a Tax free annuity (count the electric bill as a tax free check every month). Being retired this locks us in and obamma can't get us if he gets crap and tax passed, lol.

Also, super thread drift. but its my thread so heck. If anyone needs help on evaluating most bang for buck on house upgrades to save money and improve comfort let me know. I've studied this for about 5 years now and think I have a good feel for what pays. In short, Windows and cracks/holes first, add insulation in attic if possible. Bare slump block or brick, frame out and add insulation, sheet rock (about $300-$500 per room), make room stable year round and great heat/cool savings. Lots of other tricks. I can show you 5 years of electric bills, even with rate increases ours has gone down every year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a tree hugger and think global warming is a load of bull, but we like to be comfortable and keep our money!

Sorry about the drift. Would love to hear more if your up for it. You can pm me if you want to get this thread back on track. Great info thanks.

Sure, as for thread drift, I didn't think there would be any responce on the light fixture. Mike has seen and loves them, I just wanted some user comments since they have no fans, on ballast/bulb life and such.

We are on N/W side if you want to swing by and see some of the things we've done. The Reef is almost presentable after I let it go down hill doing all the remodel stuff. The ORA Tort is starting to get blue again, lol, Its the Pre-hurricane Tort from about 8 years ago.

If you want I'll PM you my Phone #. If you do come by try to do it on a sunny day, between 11:00 and 2:00 to see the results best. That way you can see the max solar output and the effects of windows and other insulation. I have an IR gun so you can see surface temps of cielings, walls, doors and windows.
