Anybody want any Condy?

Probably a bad title, but "my first Anenome" was already taken.

As I said, my first Anenome. Always been mystified by them.
Seemed to acclimate real well. Doubt there is any problem, figure he is just going to be a bit shy at first. He has wandered underneath some rock in a little tunnel. He is leaking out. For it to be an Anenome that may not host clowns, my Tomato's have been all over it, even though it's upside down.
Pretty happy about that too. I just hope it comes out so I can feed it.

I know you can't see, he's right above Tomato. If I can't see, how can I feed?

My condy is also really shy it must be a condy thing. Once i get home i will upload a picture of him. He hangs out on the back of the tank next to the power head but hes happy and healthy

It's still hanging out in the rock, but to those who said that a Condy would not host clown fish......mine knew what to do in about 10 seconds. These guys are funny.

mine has a personality all his own. my clowns swim by him but I don't think he is quite big enough for them to host yet. She doesn't seem happy when she looks at him . they seem to be a great hardy anemone.

Hey,

Hows your guy doing, i just rearranged my tank a couple days ago due to problems with posphates and nitrates. Plus added more rock condy moved to the front and is growing quite fast

Condys host clowns, no news there...problem is when they start to move around and kill corals...

While the anemone is the host, it isn't the one deciding to host. That is the part of the clownfish.

Some clownfish are picky and will hardly accept any anemone that isn't on their natural host list. After a while, if they can't find precisely what they want, they may settle for another host anemone as a surrogate. IME percula and ocellaris belong into this caterogy.

Then there are clownfish that quite possibly take any anemone there is. I had a chrysogaster that decided to force himself on an Atlantic Actinia bermudensis (or equina). The anemone was not really excited about that, especially given the fact that it was hardly larger in diameter than the fish in length. I'm sure the fish would have taken a condy as well and for sure also an Atlantic/Mediterranean Anemonia viridis.
Condys are regularly taken on as hosts by anemonefish from the clarkii and tomato complex...

All my prior research was that the Condy is least likely to host, but the Tomato's would be symbiotic to almost any anemone.
As I posted at the time, these tomato's new the jig was up in about 10 seconds.

As you can see everybody is doing quite well. Anemone has moved his foot a bit but is always flowered out into the light.
I want him to move so I can enjoy him more, but also don't want him to go rogue and venture into a power head.
