i put a white tip trigger in with my picasso today... they dont like each other, but there have been no fireworks as of yet. they dont hang around each other, but they dont avoid each other either. when they happen to bump into each other, they just put up thier triggers, and turn around. its been about 4 or 5 hours since i put himin. i also took the picasso out and put himin the sump while i introduced the new trigger. i let him roam the tank for about a half an hour, then put the picasso back in. when they first seen each other they did the body bump sideways faceoff thing a couple of times, and then went about thier business. the new trigger seems to be theone in control though. when they get close the picasso usually turns away first, then the white tip.

any comments/predictions?

well i bought a white tip (sufflamen a.) awhile back and had it with my picasso (rhinecanthus aculeatus) and they didnt like eachother. they didnt fight, but they didnt like eachother, i ended up returning the sufflamen and keeping the humu.

anyways, i do keep the humu with a clown trigger now, he is what i replaced the white tip with. and it has been close to a year, and they love eachother.

Did a clown and a niger for a time....for almost a year (2" fish) they were fine until one day the clown went evil on everyone. He went to live at the LFS and the niger is still doing great. Each trigger is different though there tends to be a general heirarchy of aggression. (most to least)

titan > queen > undulated > clown > humu (Rhinecanthus) genus > white tips > niger > blue line > cross hatch/pink tails > blue jaw

Again, all have their exceptions and all can be aggressive. Usual trigger thing is they are fine for awhile then one day kaboom.

Still, cool fish...

Big Niger/Hummu together, the Niger is the boss and bullies time to time and the Hummu couldn't give a rats keister about anybody. My Orangelined is solo, but at 4" and the Niger at 8" I think if I put them together the Niger would kill her. He's never welcomed anybody new in his tank, and it's been some time since any new fish.

i'm thinking of putting a niger in with my huma ,i'll get a smaller niger and turn the lights off for 48 hours and hope when i turn them on it will be alright !

Have a 6" niger and 9" clown together with tangs and 6
" Tusk. The tusk and niger dont like each other. Every so often the tusk goes after the Niger when they get close., the niger takes off. When it's time to eat the clown tigger just plows thru everyone to get to the hunks of shrimp. Does not bite anyone just acts like a big bullie. The yellow tangs about 4" stand up to the Clown Trigger and so does the Hippo tang 8". Am told sooner or later the clown will snap and go nuclear on all living things in his tank.
