Anyone able to raise clownfish babies?

I've read up on it and it seems that I wouldn't have the time/patience/expertise to raise these little guys. I'm sure they're ready to swim any day now. I think they were laid last wednesday.

If anyone wants to try to save them, you're welcome to them.

p.s. I don't know why the anemone twists it's body like that.

You are right, they look ready to hatch any day. Too bad that you are not close to me. I could have helped you with all the supplies.

They hatched last night while I was asleep. Couldn't find any this morning. :(

Next time they lay eggs I'll take note of the day and be ready.

Do you need any supply such as phytoplankton and rotifers? If so, I can ship it to you or ask my daughter to bring it down to Tuscaloosa along with zoanthids that I promised (I don't know when she will be down there next, though.) You might consider putting together a snagger device to catch the fry.

Well, I don't know much about raising them but it's worth a shot. I do have a 10 gallon tank I could set up to try and save the next batch.

How long could I preserve the phyto and rotifers while waiting on the fish to lay eggs again?

You might consider something smaller than a 10 gallon tank for the first two weeks. If you can save enough of them, you can use a partially filled 10 gallon tank. A smaller tank ensures that the tiny fry can find their food without having to swim very much. You need to put rotifers in with phyto so that rotifers are continually fed in the fry tank and phyto can clean the water for the fry. You should also wrap the tank with a piece of dark colored paper or a black garbage bag so that no light comes in from the side of the tank to confuse the little fry.

It's a lot of work. You need to feed them and clean their tank "often". I hope you are up for it. You can keep a bottle of phyto for a week in your fridge. You need to keep rotifers alive by feeding them with phyto everyday.

If it's too much trouble with your busy schedule, you may have to give up the idea of raising them. You have free fish food.
