anyone diy protein skimmer (50 to 100 gallons)

just curious if someone made there own skimmer.i need one for my new tank.i have a 40 gallon breeder with 15 gallon sump.i have a 9002 tunze skimmer and a aquamedic airstone skimmer all from my aquapod.money been tight since my layoff and thinking maybe can make my own just need some ideas.i have a couple pumps laying around maybe i can use or give me advise what is a good pump depending on size of my skimmer.it would have to fit in my sump 12x7x10"water depth.if have pic i would like to see so i can have a visual .
