Anyone else experiencing JBJ auto topoff system power problems?

I was wondering if anyone else out there has had their JBJ auto topoff system just stop working out of nowhere. I went to refill my reservoir tonight and I discovered all of the lights on it were out, and it won't power up. It has been running less than a year so I'm really disappointed.

I contacted JBJ's customer support, but something tells me they won't be replacing it since it is out of warranty.

Another member of my club had the exact same thing happen earlier this month after only 3 months of use. Something tells me we aren't the only ones experiencing this... so does anyone know of a fix?

look and see if there is a kinda of silicon or protective material sleeve right above the sensor
if water gets to high and this piece is missing it will short the sensor out
there will kinda be expossed wire
newho hope this helps

I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to, but I assume you're talking about a different type of float valve. There's no silicon on the ones that came with the system that I can see and the wire comes up through the bottom of them, so I'm not sure where there would be silicon.

I'm on my 3rd unit and had the same issue as you. This one has held up for a while, but the first two failed fairly quickly.

i dont know how to describe it
but my buddy went through 3 in 3 months
i bought a diy from brs and when we were looking at it
he said wow the wire above my censor does not have any silicon to stop water from shorting it out if i put to much water in

So basically you're saying it's designed such that it can never be placed in a sump where water levels will rise if the return is turned off or loses power? And conversely it can't be placed in the display either where water level would drop and trigger the ATO to fill the tank? That's a ridiculously bad design if it's true and would make the ATO useless. I doubt JBJ would use sensors that crappy but you never know. I'll have to pull one out and check it, thanks.
