Anyone else feel sorry for...

That Yuri Eel on Diver's Den??

That poor fella has been for sale for it seems a year. Looks like a nice eel, no idea why he has been on the auction block for so long.

but then again the DD tanks looks so well taken care of he probably has a better life than 95% of the fish they sell. Like that sweet Garibaldi Damsel that will find itself into an 82 degree tank.

actually the garibaldi was bought by someone with a large coldwater tank. i forget their username though. that eel is very nice, maybe you should get it! :P

Well, he isnt out in the wild being predated upon and having to search out every meal... he's like the poor kid adopted by Brangelina, all the other eels envy him.

I still see the Garibaldi showing as available.. maybe there was a second one which you are talking about. And if I had another tank I'd consider the Eel.

What in the wild eats those big eels? Maybe certain sharks or groupers I'd guess as i am sure there is also a bigger fish. Just thought it was odd he has been for sale for so long since most things sell within a week it seems

Yeah, he has been up for a while.

Eels eat eels. Groupers, sharks... like you said, there is always something bigger out there. It's got to be nice being put into an aquarium that is maintained well and being basically hand fed a variety of food, plus not having to worry about mr reef shark taking a bite out of your tail at night.

In the wild, fish have only 3 real instincts. Eat. Avoid being eaten. Reproduce. That's the big trade when a wild fish goes into captivity. We feed & protect them from predators; they give up their sex life. Not worth it, IMO, even at age 63.

that eel does look great, due to small size of my current eels, and temperature req. wouldn't fit in any of my tanks unfortunately. Otherwise a really cool-looking eel, not sure what would be compatible with one that size, perhaps other similarly sized eels

See, I saw that eel for awhile too and that it was sad he was there so long.. but ive been staring at these guys for the last few weeks, the Jeweled Moray Eel (Collected Pair) - wishing there wasnt all the border rules so a Canadian could pick up somthing sweet like a pair of eels.

That's funny.

For most fish, the sex experience is a half second blast of reproductive material once a year. I think given that, they probably prefer safety and a reliable food source :)

That's getting to be my problem too. I'm heading for the cheesecake now.

I almost bought it but instead one of my dads really good friends who is an expert said no he will get way to mean for your sharks so no eel

@ recty and mr tusk fish, thanks now I have to explain to my family why I'm hysterically laughing at the fish tanks :lmao::lmao:
