As the line says:

My zoas seem to have a brown crust or alge over them stoping them from opening. This is the 3rd time i have tried to keep pink zoas looks as if i am going to fail again.

Anyone got any ideas?

There are other zoas a few inches away that are doing fine!

Hey try a little more flow. If you are easy you can wipe the crust off the top sometimes and the polyps will open.

Sounds like you have some nuisance algae growing on them. Add more flow. You can also try blasting them with a turkey baster to blow the algae off.

If the algae doesn't come off by using the turkey baster, try a small new artists paint brush and gently brush them off.

I agree with the more flow or turkey baster. Or brush them gently with a soft bristle tooth brush or something similar.

My pinks also do very well.
