Anyone else order the new Maxspect Gyre?

Saw the review for this product on BRS' youtube Macna video. Looks very interesting! Though I have hesitation about product bugs with it being a new product, new technology.

I had the same thought but I ordered mine tonight anyways. I figure there's 60 days to return it if there are issues and if there are major widespread issues after those 60 days then hopefully their customer service steps up.

For me it was this or an mp40 so I was spending the money either way. Plus all said and done with how much we spend on this hobby is $300 really that much?

Its sad but true. I literally thought I wanted to try it and if it breaks after the year warranty that would suck, but I would just get something else to replace it and maybe maxspect would do something after the warranty to help out. For me the advancment in flow seemed like something I really wanted to check out. After seeing it in person, I think it was worth jumping in on. I guess in the end, time will tell.

Is the backwards mode just as strong

Its not as powerful backwards. It also doesn't claim to be as powerful backwards. I don't know what the actually percentage is, but it seems about 50 less powerful backwards.

I'm running it at 30%F 30% backwards right now. The sound level is too annoying higher up for me and flow wise I think the max I could do would be like 40-50%F 60-80b.

Marius where did you place it in your tank?

I noticed they show placing it in a few different locations on their display.

Since this is the 1st version I will wait while Jabeo will probably comes out one soon and might be cheaper.............. :)

It's been field tested for some time now, although I only got my Beta model a month ago (my fault).

I love the Beta version and the production model addresses all the issues found with the Beta. In fact, much of the issues were listed in the Beta manual, and what they would be doing to address them on the production model. I'm sold. Got a production on the way.

I have it on a 6x2x2 and I can't even get to half power without lifting colonies on the opposite end :D

This thing is legit. 1 gyre and I have flow through the whole 70g. Its not harsh flow either. The corals aren't getting blown around (at the lower speeds). I'm running in on alternating gyre mode 20% on forward, 50% on back. Going to have it switch between them every 2 hours for now.

For your 65 you will probably only run in on 20-30% in the forward mode. I like it that way. I would rather have the larger version running at a lower setting. Its also not as loud that way. It probably needs to break in but the forward mode is louder than reverse. At 20-30% its around mp10 noise level. Higher than that it gets into mp40 range. Cranked up its louder than an mp40. Again this is with it running for like 30 mins. So I'm gonna give it more time.

I'm happy with it and think its a real advancement for flow in our tanks.

Oh cool thanks for the reply. I'm glad you're happy with it.
That is a good point about getting the 150 and running it a lower speeds to keep the noise down. Let us know if it break in an quiets down.

Would this be alright for a 29x24x18 dims( 55 gallons) or wait for the smaller one? I'm planning of putting it vertically.

I'd be interesting in hearing any updates anyone would have on this. I'm on the fence about 2 MP40ES or the Gyre, which is less than half the price.

wouldn't suggest them if you have smaller snails like dwarf ceriths. This little guy broke off two of the paddles. :mad2:
