well my blue powder tang has ich and he looks to be the only tang with sign of it, yes i forgot to QT but i want to do this tonight b/c i qt might take me 2-3 days to set up. He is still eaing with garlic but looks like in 1 week it might be to late.

I'd do hyposalinity or Osmotic Shock Therapy. The rapid reduction in salinity produces a rapid change in pressure and literally explodes the protozoan organism. Bring the specific gravity to 1.012. Since this treatment eradicates the ich org fairly quickly, only treat for a short period of time ~5 mins. Also make sure the water temp is consistant with your tank water.

Just my opinion, usually stress weakens the fish and chasing it around the tank to catch will stress it more.If the fish is eating I would try to build up his resistance using Vitamin C and some Amino acid with its food. All the dip will do is maybe destroy some parasites externally but what happens when you put the more stressed fish back, right they jump back on. If you are going to put him into an established QT tank(cycled) I would catch him and do otherwise I'd leave him alone. Sorry for the ramble, I just feel the dip will do more harm then good

I absolutely agree with LI Andy, stress will kill him even faster. My advise was if you did plan to dip him, however I stopped trying to save fish from Ich or any other parasite as they wind up dying. I've noticed mostly when left alone and feeding they had a better survivablity rate.

i also agree but if you can catch him at like 3 or 4 am then you may not stress him . if you can easily catch him ph and temp should be corrected in the water to be used and 5 to 7 minutes will kill most of them . it will still stress the fish some so do be careful.

heres another thought, when u put him back into the system he'll get it all over again since it in the water column. i would do nothing like harry said, harrys PBT always has at least one spot on it some where, and its a monster. and my purple tang get a spot when i skip feeding it algea for a few days, once i get back on schedule it disappears and doesnt come back till i repeat the process.

yes the tank is infected but a healthy fish can fend off disease much better than an ailing one . the tank should be treated in an ideal situation . one the tank is rid of disease then all new fish should be QT before going into the display tank .

In a perfect world, we would all QT every fish and know for sure that we aren't putting ICH in our tanks. Realistically, this isn't a perfect world.
I would be hesitant to do a F/W dip on almost any fish, but even more so with a fish as delicate as PBTs seem to be.
The best option would be to tear the tank apart, catch all the fish and put them into hypo salinity for 6-8 weeks. This way, you actually solve the problem.
Keeping everything as it is may or may not work out for your PBT.
At this point, my best advice is to get to know your enemy, and decide for yourself how to best combat it Marine Ich/Cryptocaryon irritans
