THere is a fish store in Dana Point called the Reef Room.

Have any of you folks ever been there?

What are your thoughts?

THanks

small, very little in stock...live and dry, and half of the fish in the store wasnt priced...cheap frags, cool jelly tank, the people were nice though

i did find these cool Nova T-5 low profile lights that i needed for my pond

i went to check it out not to really buy anything...i got the post card in the mail

Its a decent store. Dont expect any smokin deals or a large selection of dry goods. Its worth checking out if you live in the area.

There is a store in Capo Valley I just can't think of the name....Off at Avery, West of the 5.....down the first street on the right.....name eludes me

I just got back from the Reef Room. The fish selection wasn't too shabby, and they actually had a pretty large variety of corals. The jelly tank was cool.

But other than for the adult toy store next door I probably won't ever go back there. The guy charged me $29.00 for a diamond goby.

Still I didn't really feel comfortable with their on-the-fly pricing. By watching the guy he seemed to price things acording to how much the customer knew about the fish.

None of the prices were marked, and after bagging all my stuff and taking my credit card he spent about 5 minutes thinking up prices. After awhile I was really scared. I should have just said I wouldn't pay unless he gave me the price first.

I bought a diamond goby, a cleaner shrimp, a six-line and 4 margarita snails, and it came to $98.00 and that was after a $2.00 "discount". PLUS he wouldn't ring me up until I gave him my personal info, address, name, etc.

So on top of getting screwed, now he's got my info.

And he didn't have any oxygen, so he handed me the bags and said I better hurry and get them home.

Yikes! That's all I have to say.

But there is the sex toy shop next door, and that ain't a bad thing.

Wait a minute Josh...are you talking about the Jelly tank in at the reef room, or the jelly tank at the naughty store?

Ya their prices are pretty high, my mom got me a mushroom for xmas, about 1 inch close up for 20$. She said they gave her a 10$ "discount". I didnt want to say nothing. And their water is expensive, 1$ a gallon. But, they have a cool little store, good coral selection

I would have gotten more bang for my buck.

Ok people, this was a really funny comment and no one laughed.

hello? this thing on?

ya i agree on the pricing things being on reefcentral people always ask me what stuff costs and thinking reefcentral prices i usually go way lower on acident but all the prices are on the computer so everyone is getting the same price , josh when did you go there? by the way i work there somtimes but i dont get payed so im not just saying crap to build up the store also if i were you dont ask the owner for prices he "might" scratch that he WILL give you pretty crazy prices but Darin (hes there most of the time) and Steve(the 17 year old wonder that i take full credit for considering i got him into the hobby:)) are both VERY knowlageable!!! troy, well he knows some stuff to but he is more of an owner than a employee like he just needs his money (to the point he wont hire me:()

but other than that ya the store is pretty cool if anyone goes there on the weekend look for me im the mixed black and white kid usually sitting down and reading a book or messing with coral so holla at me

I went to the store a while back. Probably some of the most friendly folks Ive run into at an LFS (Gemini included). I was there when you were "helping" the baby shark out of the sharks purse, Gemini.

For its size they have a lot. I'm sure the rent in Dana Point isn't the cheapest. I will have to agree with the earlier posts, prices should be marked on things to reduce confusion. Also provides a good bargaining tool for everyone involved to know the prices upfront.

Sweet! It was looking lethargic when it came out of its egg... so I'm glad to hear it made it.

My fishies are all doing well.

Given the choice between a cheap fish that may be healthy and a slightly more expensive fish that is for sure very healthy, I'm sure anyone would fork up a few extra bucks to know the fish is not a gamble.

I'm happy the specimens are solid.
