Anyone ever had a problem w/ Sharkys reef?

I bought a coral for almost $150 on early in the week from sharkys and I have been trying to get ahold of them all week to come pick it up.. I wanted to come Thursday, no answer.. I wanted to come yesterday.. No answer..

I left a message last night saying if I don't hear form them by tonight I'm filing a complaint w/ my credit card company..

I have heard good things about them but I'm not happy w/ them at this point in time..

Anyone ever had a similar experience?
 
no they have always been good and ive ordered from them numerous times always got it shipped though get it in one day reg fedex so not worth driving there.have not ordered in awhile so dont know if theyve changed but looks like their pricing has gotten alot higher
 
I had a minor problem with them. I ordered a bunch of zoos from them and went to go pick up.
She couldn't find the ones I wanted. None of the stock is labeled, so it was difficult to find the exact piece I wanted. I was offered another piece instead, but really I wanted that particular rock of zoos.
 
paininthewrasse, I have never had a problem with Dennis and Anita. They have always been excellent and I have purchased from them on numerous occasions.

There are at least two ways to get in touch with them. You can send them an email from the website and you can call on the number posted. Since they do not have a storefront and work from their home, I wouldn't suggest driving to them until they confirm a time for pick-up.

Since Dennis has a full time job and the reffing is a sideline, weekends are the likely time for pickups.

If you still haven't gotten ahold of them, PM me and I will give you an additional phone number to call.

Thursday was a long day for them. Anita was at O'Hare for most of the day picking up 2 shipments that came in. One was delayed so she was there longer than usual and when I spoke to her on Thursday she said she may have to go back to O'Hare to pick it up Thursday night or Friday. Also on Thursday she came back and had to get all of the orders out for that day and had to get the new items on the web. In addition to all that a tank sprung a leak so it really wasn't a good day.

They really prefer pickups on the weekends. Send them an e-mail, try to call them or they have a username on here under SharkeysReef, you can try to PM them. Odds are they can work out a time for you to stop by this weekend.

We apologize for the difficulty you have been experiencing in getting a hold of us. We assure you this is an unusual situation and take great pride in returning all calls and emails promptly. Emails sometimes get a faster response because we can resond at 1AM where as one might not appreciate a call at that time. ;)

There have been a few extenuating circumstances this week that have interferred with our normal operations. However, this is no excuse to allow one of our customers to be stressed regarding an order and we understand your frustration.

We will be contacting you shortly and will make sure you are completely happy with your experience with Sharkys.

In regards to a few of the other comments in this thread, all we can say is there are changes coming to Sharkys Reef shortly that will benefit everyone! :)

If anyone has anything less then a great experience at Sharkys please contact us - we want to know! We can not prevent some things from happening but we can do our best to fix them.

Dennis, I can't remember ever having a less-than-great experience at Sharky's........ Except for the time that your dog took a liking to my leg! :lol:

I picked up the coral this afternoon..

Unfortunatly the one I wanted wasnt doing so hot.. which is obviously out of their hands.. I was hoping to get a different one they called "PPE Blasto" but it was sold out.. again obviously not their fault. I ended up picking out a pretty nice piece, and its acclimating now.

I'm happy w/ the experience overall but man its a cruise.. i may just have them shipped from now on! lol
 
Update- after seeing this thread, Sharky's graciously offered to make things right....even after a couple of months since the incident. Although it wasn't necessary, it was very much appreciated.

Paininthewrasse- I'm glad you were able to get in touch with them and bring home something!
 
Thats great sugartooth. I'll be doing business w/ them again soon! The blasto I got is really nice. I'll take a pic and post it here when the lights go on :D I'm going to fright fest in a couple weeks maybe I'll swing by them prior to going since theyre like 5 mins from great america.
