Anyone ever mod a 6200 screen? or 6100?

Is that called a shroud? I was thinking of trying to get an even wider path. I have one or two brown 6200 screens. Was thinking of cutting the plastic close to the ends of the slats. Then putting some sort of PVC on the end.

Roger, do you see any downside? Will it do anything bad to the pump? I am amazed how much more powerful the 6201 is than the 6101. The flow pattern is wider but I'm wondering if it can be even wider?

Any advice, precautions? :)

The main precaution is that the wider the slots the more animals and debris can get inside and lock up the pumps. You will not see much increase in flow by removing slots, if the cover is clean it should be capable of its maximum flow. The only way to get wider flow is a bigger outlet. If you cut out the opening and used a round piece of pipe it should work but keep the piece of pipe as short as possible to avoid channeling the flow too much, figure the pipe is like a choke in a shotgun and if it is longer you will focus the flow more, shorter will let it spread more. Keep some sort of safeguard in mind to keep out snails and small fish. This week alone I had two modded 6200/6201 pumps come back modded similarly and both had prop damage due to things getting inside.
