Anyone Feeding Live Black Worms?

I was wondering if anyone is feeding Live Black Worms and if so, where do you get them from in Phoenix?

I feed the breeding pairs black worms from time to time. It helps getting the fish to spawn as in all live foods. The worms come from fresh water so they die in a few minutes if not consumed. The only store that I know of is The Pet Shop that sells them. They are very inexpensive but they need to be refrigerated in water & the water changed daily so buy a small amount & use it up.

Is their a reason why you want to try black worms?

A friend of my cousin is getting into the hobby and called me and asked about how to acclimate his new fish he purchased from a LFS. I told him I would come over and help / show him.

When I arrived at his house and saw that he purchased a Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse along with his Clown fish, I cringed, and told him that this fish will definitely die in his tank. I gave him the money he purchased it for and took it home with me.

So now I have a Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse that I am hoping I can keep alive. I have been searching the net for info, and I saw a post about black worms, and thought I would give them a try as well.

So thats the long story about the curiousity of black worms.

We feed them whenever we can get out to The Pet Store to pick them up (only place we know of thanks to Bob). Have a batch right now. Mostly feed LPS with them, but the fish love them too. Even out hard to feed Choati wrasse started scarfing them down. They're sort of high maintenance, but worth it. Great food for fish and corals, IME.

Live foods are best to get a fish in captivity to eat. You can also try live brine shrimp. You can purchase that at The Ocean Floor, Reef Culture, & Reef Monsters. You can also try r... stew which is at 8 local stores. The thing you want to do is get it to eat anything & then the frozen foods.

I purchase $10 of live brine and $10 of reef stew each week at Reef Culture. Love the stuff :-)
