Anyone have a large acrylic tank?

I'm 5 years in with my 340g acrylic. The scratches don't bother me but I have a bigger problem. Some kind of mottled effect caused by diatom or whatever build up. Have 50% visibility in some lower parts. I asked James at Envision Acrylics for advice on what to do and he recommended this mesh kit:

Can be used inside a full tank and I've just ordered one and will be attempting to restore the acrylic as I can't live with it anymore. My advice to anyone with a large acrylic tank is to clean it every day, even twice a day with a magnet and never let a hard film build up. It's as though something in the crap build up eats away at the acrylic. I'm hoping it's just microns deep and can be easily sanded out.

Just finished polishing the used acrylic reef tank I bought last week, it took me several man hours with spraying vinegar and removing it with a soft towel and several man hours applying Novus #3 then Novus #2 with a sponge drill bit and a battery operated drill. My forearms hurt!!!

I can see very minor/light polished scratches, would they amplify when theres water in the tank?
