anyone have an electric flame scallop?

It's not actually electricity, but a chemical reaction simular to what fireflies do. A number of sea creatures do this. Bioluminesence is very cool :D

BTW scallops filter feed on phytoplankton. They need large quantities on a daily basis to do well. Either something like DT's, the concentrates from Reed, or culturing your own is the only way to keep them alive.

ive had one for a couple months now. I just feed it phyto every so often. The LFS say that I should vary it's diet, witch iam starting to do. Everyone that i have talked to says that they have a very short life span in captivity. I will actually be kinda surprised if it lives more than a couple more months.

Feed it daily with good phytoplankton and you just might get more than the couple of months it takes to starve ;) You can take it out and put it in a bucket to feed for a couple of hours in order to make sure it's getting plenty. One of the favourite algaes for shellfish aquaculture is T-Iso, Tahitian Isochyrisis galbana, which is readily available.
