Anyone have Blue Monti Cap?

I don't have a recent one but I think I had some from the swap last year. Let me check for it.

Here it is... I will get an updated shot tomorrow when the lights are on. I can frag this thing if people are interested. 3/4" or so for $15 sound good?

its a fast grower and likes low light. its echinopora. most chalices are echinophilia.

Yep, I agree, its echinopora. The small polyps are the give away for sure. It is at its best under lower light. The blue turns more of a dark purple when its getting a bit too much light. BTW, oxypora is a true 'chalice' also. The term 'chalice' generally refers to echinopora, echinophyllia, oxypora, echinomorpha, and mycedium. Back in the day, when the first 'chalice' came on the scene, it was referred to as a Blue Chalice and if I recall right was this echinopora morph when tyree first introduced it. Echinopora differs from most chalice growth pattern, as it fans out more like montipora, instead of primarily following the rockwork pattern like most other chalice. Very cool lps coral.

Following up here a little late. I had a really nice colony of this a while back and sold several frags to club members, including Ben, who recently sold a frag back to me. I lost my original colony in a tank mishap while on vaction. It was badly stung by anemones and didn't recover. My coral "originally" came from Zeppelin at the 06 frag swap. I used to keep good notes. So, if you get a frag from Ben, you can trace it back Zeppelin and call it an EG (Eden's Gate) LE. Hope this helps.

Glad everyone's frags are doing well. I actually got my original frag from RandyO, so its RandyO's that you all have. I'll have to get with him, but I'd bet he got his from Steve(Tyree).

I still have a nice piece growing in my display that I inevitably break off once in awhile cleaning the glass.

amazingly we may have a small piece in the wifes pico, the live sand /rock she got from Phishy, had a tiny piece of something blue that has tripled in size in 2 months, I just moved it into a place for her where we can keep an eye on it and see if it is in fact an echino
