I am looking for some experience with female Lineatus. I've heard a few different things, but I am looking for someone with experience with them. Are they aggressive? Hardy?

I was going ot get a large Male Lineatus, but I was just informed that I should be able to get a few (3) females instead if I want. I would rather the group, but if the females are super aggressive and just go around killing my other livestock, then It isn't worth it to me...

Any thoughts?

Thanks a ton!

female fairy wrasses tend to be a little more aggressive than some of the males but if you can get three females at different sizes you should be fine..i have seen female lineatus be pretty nasty but mostly to other fairy wrasses

+1 to their agression toward other wrasses. They can be nasty. I tried two females hoping one would become male. I only got one to sub male before I got sick of how much they chased my other fish. I keep mostly wrasses and anthias.

What is it about the different sized group that's better? When I've seen them offered at QM or SDC or any other place they've been all the same size.

Did you end up pulling them out?

In retrospect, would you rather have just got a nice large Male instead of the females?

Yeah they had to go. They went in a friends 200 system with mostly tangs and larger fish. They keep it in check now and are a sweet pair.

If they aren't agressive alone I'd totally get one. They have such amazing colors. I'm happy with the mix of fish I have right now; I think I'd have to remove the pair of pylei if I did because they are acting up on me when I tried to add fish.

Ryan, I had a 5"+ terminal male before for about a year and a half and he never bothered any of my other fairy wrasses until he jumped. I added another 4.5" terminal male about a month ago and he's the same way. The big watanabei angel keeps him in his place from time to time. In fact, I've never seen any aggression between any of my fairy wrasses. I am thinking about adding a couple of females down the road also. A lot has to do with the other fish in the tank, I think.

OK Cool! I saw a pic of your new lineatus and it was Awesome!!! Im thinking of just adding a single large male w/ 3 female Rhomboids. Then in the future, I can always add some more female Lineatus...

haha! Yeah, Im pretty excited to get them.

And my multifasciata's will be ready to go to the display on Saturday!!!

Im leaning towards a nice male Lineatus and 4 flames...

I love my female flame I just got. The color is unbeleivably bright red. She now swims up with my male. I'm very surprised, and happy how adding the rhomboids and the flame so close together and I havent had any aggression at all.

female lineatus are very aggressive once they settle in. Female flames and rhomboids are very peaceful IME. I had a female lineatus beat the heck out of 4 female flame wrasse after i introduced them...
