Anyone have experience with the whitecheek tang?

Whitecheek Tang

I was searching through LiveAquaria's selection of tangs and found this fish. I like the simplicity of this fish and find it to be a beautiful animal. Has anyone here had experience with this tang? I would love to hear about it! =)

seems like the goldrim tang isnt quite as popular. maybe b/c its not as readily available as some of the other popular tangs. i saw a really healthy one at my LFS and would've bought it if i had a big tank up and running. I like them 2nd to only the Achilles.

Had one many many moons ago -- great fish, and hope that one day I will be able to get another one. Had to sell it when I realized that I had made a mistake -- there is no way that fish should be kept in a 4 foot tank, 6 is borderline, with 8 being better.

Ohh.. Perhaps then I shouldn't consider one... How about a powder brown or chevron?

If this is for your 29, no tangs will work.

I have had a few over the years, a 29 will not cut it. They are prone to ich like the powder brown and blue. Not as aggresive as the other 2 but can be down right nasty if they choose.

No, definitely not for the 29. I'm just researching for plans for the 90 Gallon. I wouldn't even ask about that, as I know tangs need a lot of room to swim. That's why I won't try to put a whitecheek in the 90 if an 8 foot tank is ideal.

I would pass on this fish for a 90. The "other" powder brown does much better, but still not the best fish for a 90g.
