Anyone here give up on keeping SPS?

I almost forgot to thank you for the compliment. I don't get those often. People have a hard time comprehending what they see was actually created by someone and therefore generally couldn't care less (including my wife
my kids both love doing art so I have to find a way to stop them. They need to grow up and get real jobs 
) .

No problem, keep up the good work and get the hell out of TN! I think that might be your main problem. Get yourself over to SF CA or NY, NY or some big city. Youll get work then.
So that explains why I'm longing to keep a tiger shark. I just need like what, a 50 gallon tank, and I'm set, right?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. By lame-Os I man all the people who call themselves illustrators but can't really draw. Head on over to theispot and just click on "what's new" there should be about 20 examples of people that have ruined illustration.
Further more they simply get in the way of your work being found. It is really hard for someone to find you while they are being bombarded with crap.
Or take a look at movie posters. Seldom do you see great movie posters like the ones created by Drew Struzan. As a matter of fact he doesn't get very much work any more. It is really sad as this guy is the best of the best right up there with J.C. Leyendecker and Norman Rockwell. Movie posters are nothing more than photoshopped crap anymore. I am not dissing photoshop in any fashion (I use it everyday to make a living) I am simply bashing those who are taking away the work from people with real talent.
That is about all I have to say about my field. if you are thinking of trying to become a professional artist I wouldn't encourage it. It is a rough road.

Oh yeah I totally agree with you on the movie poster thing. They definitely are thrown together photoshop hack garbage.
A perfect example is the new Superman poster with some type and that they applied a photoshop filter to and that dumb texture background that is so easy to do with a click of the mouse. Seems like there is no value in it. I cant believe someone paid someone for that but you know I wouldnt be suprised if it was really cheap labor. OMG I hadnt even read the rest of your post and we are already of like mind on the subject.

Yeah I know its ruff, and I know I am talented, but I am realistic and I know I am not talented enough. So this is why I chose Graphic Design, although I dont know that I am talented enough for this industry either. Kinda gets me down, because these are the only things that I am really very good at. After that I have no clue what to do.

Red Devil. As far as coloration - I noticed a big difference after switching from 14K to 10K (i use XM) with actinic supplementation. My SPS growth immediately took off and improved coloration as well. Sorry if someone has mentioned this already, I didn't have time to read through all responses.
