Hi all.

I have a similar post out in general reefkeeping. Anyone here using a tenecor tank with the built-in Simplicity Plus filter system??

If so, can you post some comments on what you think of system and any pics U may have of them.

Thanks

Mack

I have one....picked up a 240 used.....it is in really good shape though and I got a fantastic deal on it.....

I used the bioballs that came with it, but I also drilled it on both ends and one hole close to the middle for the return.....I have an Oceanic overflow kit and it has the split return so I only needed one return pump and therefore one return hole....

I debated a long time about drilling......I ended up doing it because 1) the sump adds more water volume, 2) my reef tank is set up that way and I'm comfortable with that, and 3) I don't like most HOB skimmers and felt it limited my choices to not have an in-sump skimmer.

Hope this helps....if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.....here's a couple of pics:

Did you happen to take any pics of the back of the system before setting it up??? Do you have any pics of the top???

I'm conversing with Tenecor right now on a 150 gallon system. My old 180 was basement sump system, and I think I want to minimize equipment costs, etc, as well as keeping this one extremely simple. I think the 180 would be too high to reach bottom of rear filter, etc.

What is your total front-to-back in-tank dimension?. I know the total tank is 24", and I think the filter is 4", so that gives you 20" in the tank - is this correct??

I found a decent skimmer - Deltec MCE600 that should do well on a 150. But, uncertain if mounting will be an issue.

Thanks for your input!

No, sorry, I didn't take any pictures of the back before setup.....the overflow is right in the middle of the tank.....it has 3 trays right under the overflow but I don't have anything on them.....after the water fills up the middle area, it drips water thru the drip plate into 3 separate sections on each side, then goes all the way to the sides and thru the overflows.....I have bio-balls in these 3 sections. I also have 2 Fluval 404's right after the middle section that I run carbon in.....my sump is an Oceanic Model 3....I have bioballs in the sump also, where the overflows pour into. I'm using a Tunze skimmer right now and I may supplement with another skimmer....return pump is a Quiet One 4000.

The tank is 8' long, 24" high, and yes you're correct, about 20" + 4" on the back wall.

I considered that same Deltec model that you are looking at.....looks like a great skimmer, but I couldn't figure how to mount it, especially considering the canopy. The only place where the water is at a constant level and high enough for the Deltec input to reach is around the middle area.......and the canopy would get in the way.......you can't submerge it in the back area because it won't fit.....I'm sure you could modify something, I just felt it was easier to drill it myself, for the reasons I mentioned before.
