Anyone in the Washington area have any rare(ish) Zoa's for sale?

I'm thinking about running up to Wet Pets and Friends either this Wednesday or Sunday, more than likely Wed., and was wondering if there would be anyone in the area who would happen to have any zoa frags for sale. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, that's for sure, so if you only have 5+ polyps, that's fine, I just want to try and add some color to my tank. Dragon Eyes, Fire and Ice, AOG, Pink Panthers, etc. Please let me know, I will probably be up there about 12:30 or so... Thanks in advance!

Also, if anyone would like to meet me at Wet Pets and pick up a free hairy red-legged hermit crab that's 2" long, and not reef safe, let me know, and I'll bring him.

if you're looking for zoanthid frags......DON'T go to wet pets...especially if you're not looking to spend alot of money....take the trip to aquaworld. i just got a 40 polyp frag of radio active dragon eyes for $15. the color is amazing. but i must say....wet pets is great for fish, but coral.. i think you'll get ripped off

Yeah, I've been the Wet Pets a few times, and I'll agree about the coral prices being outrageous. I'll look up aquaworld, I haven't been there before. Thanks for the info!

Ohhh... after looking it up online, and finding it on MapQuest, I remember that place now. I think I've been there before, they have the gators in the back of the store, right? I'll more than likely hit that place up tomorrow as well, so if anyone in that area want a free hermit, let me know, and we'll meet there. Here's a pic of him

Well, Wet Pets took the hermit and put it in one of their displays... I'm glad to see him go somewhere that he'll be taken of.

Also, I highly doubt I'll ever be back at Aqua World. I got a 16 head cluster of white paly's at Wet Pets for $5, and for the same size cluster at Aqua World, they wanted $3 per head... I couldn't talk him done any more than $3. Oh well. If I'm ever in the market for alligators though, I know where to go!

I went to Aqua World for the first time on Tuesday. They have a big selection, but waaaaay over priced. Their tanks were very dirty also. Everytime I asked a price on something, Harry was like ooh thats a rare Australian piece. I'm thinking then why how did you get 50 of them if they are so rare. The cheapest frag they had was an acro I hadn't seen before for like $24. It's only a 20 minute drive in the middle of the day for me, so I will probably stop by once in a blue moon just to see whats new. They had other lps for $15/head, but a minimum of 5 heads so $75!! They had a huge used 220gal setup for sale but I was scared to ask how much. At least I got to see it finally.

Yeah... I would have loved to have gotten some zoas, even though the the aptasia, bubble and hair algae scared me, but at $3 a head, it didn't seem worth it. I asked about a tiny little piece with 5 heads on it, and they wanted $15, "but they'd give it to me for $12". At that price, I can wait until the next frag swap and pick up some zoa's then.

Oh, and at $25 per stalk on the pom pom xenia, I passed that one up too...

wait, when i was there, they said they'd frag anything you see.......infact when i was there he fired up the saw and fraged the colony right there... i don't have any apista on it

I have a bunch of nice xenia for $5 a head if you want some :)

i think when you visit aquaworld you have to look past a dirty tank...if it was that dirty, coral wouldn't be living. and if you look at the prices in general, wet pets is very overpriced.... just about every coral starts off at $60. last time i was at wet pets their zoas had aptasia all over......so i think you were being a bit picky....like i said before....i bought nice a nice zoa frag of 40 polyps for $15 and yesterday i bought a frag of duncan for 30.....

Was the original price on the 40 polyp frag $15, or did you have to talk him down on it? I couldn't get a 5 polyp frag for under $12... And I absolutely agree that Wet Pets has a lot of corals for way more than they're worth IMO, but I've always had really good luck with they're $5 frags that end up in the sand in their frag tanks.

i'm gonna have to look at the frags in the sand...i never looked! i didn't have to talk him down....i think it was ming's son i talked to...he said a frag the size of a quarter was 15 bucks...well when he cut it it was more like the size of a half dollar and i counted 40 closed polyps when i got home. next trip i'm going to get the aussie acan's....at 15 bucks per polyp you just cant beat it....i just looked on divers den and they are selling 3" colonies for $350!!! i do agree that some of the tanks at aquaworld are scary....but i'm pretty sure if you do a preventative dip when you get home you'll be ok
