Anyone keepeing the springer damsel?

I have one, they are great. Mine can be a little bit of a bully when new fish are added but eventually he calms down.

I have a solid blue one I got from Blue Zoo, he GLOWS

Here's my old one which is the typical coloration seen.

Neither were a bother.

Mine looks like the fish in the second pic.The fish in the first pic looks like a blue devil damsel.
It's a very timid fish so don't buy one if you have any bully fish in the tank.Mine gets chased by my red headed goby which is tiny but seems to like bossing the springers around.Springers are also flatworm eaters and will search around rocks looking for them.

The first picture is a springeri damsel. There are a few differences between the solid blue springeri and the blue devil damsel. Mine also eats flat worms. When he was smaller he was timid but now that he is an adult he holds his own and only backs down to the flame angel and the clownish.

If you look online you will find articles about the 2 different types of springeri.

I have to say, I've never seen one of these. I like it, but have always been leery of damsels and their bullying traits..

I have both "types" of Springer's - there is an article on Reef Builder's about this very issue, and it appears that there may in fact be two different species commonly sold as Springer's.

The one in the first picture in this thread is probably a Springer's, while the second one may be a Sinclair's - I have both, and they are great fish, although they can become territorial in smaller tanks. Mine are in my 40B (20L sump) with 2 occelaris clowns, 2 Talbot's damsels, 1 Azure damsel, 1 YT damsel, 1 Rolland's damsel, 1 small yellow tang, 1 elongate pseudo, 1 TS blenny, 1 YW goby, and 1 Lubbock's wrasse - lots of activity and a joy to watch...

Here is a pic - tank has been up for 8 months now...

I purchased one last week. I saw this thread and researched both Springeri damsels and yellow tails. I was lucky when I got to the LFS they actually had the Springer's in stock.
