Anyone know a media for silica removal

that does not contain copper?

I've found a few different types of media but one stated it contained some copper and the others didn't state any info at all on ingredients.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help...

HI

There is UltraSIL, made by Fauna Marine, and there is Silicarbon from Aquaconnect. As far as I know, UltraSIL may be available from www.aquariumobsessed.com, Sililcarbon is only available in Germany, but you may source it somewhere in the US.
Both products are specifically formulated for Seawater and do not contain any copper or other nasty stuff. I haven't used any of them, never had a need for it, but heard that they both work fine.

I believe that the phosphate binders will generally also bind silicate. I know the aluminum based media do and I think the same goes for GFO's.

I was curious about that... right now I'm running some PuraPhos and both levels seem to be going down so that would make sense. Maybe I'll still get some of the UltraSIL in the future in case I need a backup.

Thanks :)

Incidentally, GFO's are also used to absorb arsenic. When I ordered 30lb of it from an on-line vendor I said it was to remove arsenic from well water. I had gotten the heads-up that the vendor is prohibited by contract from selling the GFO for use in aquaria. Coincidentally, the media looks an awful lot like Rowaphos.
