Anyone know about these t5's

Couple things

#1- I would stay with 6+ bulbs on a 72

#2- I'm assuming HL is "hello lights" house brand. Don't know much about them.

#3- Are you hanging this?

#4- From my experiences, I've yet to find a fixture that comes with FREE lights that are decent. I personally have taken them every time. (why would I turn down free lights) but it's all figured in on the cost.

Don't know how soon you're looking to get lights but I have a 6-bulb Finnex fixture that I'll soon be getting rid of. I had the hanging fixures but I'm not 100% sure I know where that is but also has legs. Trottie I think had the same fixture and put indiviual reflectors in. (not positive but I think)

looks like a tek fixture

you can use the 4 bulb fixture

depends on the bulbs (ask what brand they are )

also the ballasts will make a difference

when I picked up my light fixture, I just kept the bulbs that came with it and figured when they burn out I"ll replace them

the bulbs that come with it may not be optimal, but its not like they're going to kill everything in your tank in the 10-12 months before you replace them

I do agree w/ reggae though, try to find at least 6 bulbs for the 72

I have 6 bulbs on mine

I have one of these http://aquactinics.com/pages/TX5.html It is very bright and stays fairly cool. Does not appear to transfer much heat. I was looking into getting a tek light but I read a rather lengthy thread about T5s some where around here and heard that the 5 bulb aquactinics would out perform the 6 bulb teks. Not sure if it is true or not but this thing is very bright.

the thing about the aquanetics is that it uses a fan and cools down the bulbs some -- which in turn lengthing the light and keeps the optimal temp on the bulbs

with a par meter tek light when first started up till about 15 mins par is at its peek after 18-20 or more the par drops by 20%because of the temp of the bulbs
