anyone know anything better than teflon tape

I have 4000 GPH of head presure and evertime I hook it up it takes me several tryes to get no leak or air pushing in
Is their anything better than teflon tape to use?

Yes - use TFE (teflon) plumbers paste - find it at HD/Lowes right nest to the teflon tape. All you have to do is brush on a line around the male threads - as you then tighten the fitting, it will seal any imperfections very well. I switched to it from the tape some time ago and could not be happier - no more leaks! It also has the benefit of making the fittings a little easier to put together.

you need to put the tape om in the same direction you are screwing the fitting on so it does not come off the threds
hd sells a yellow color tape that is thicker for gas lines i can't remember ever having a leak with teflon tape i must have done
thousands of threds with it

It is a great waterproof sealer that is non-permanent. I use it on all my threaded PVC and one slip fittings that I don't want to glue (as long as it is not high pressure).

Aquadog11, The heavier yellow or orange that marspeed mentioned is what Paul at Oceans Motions says he uses for the threaded fittings on his Oceans Motions Wavemakers. He says he's never had a problem. That would work for any threaded fitting.

Jet Fixer, The pipe dope in the link you have is not the same thing as teflon paste. It is mainly used for metal pipe and sealing drains into sinks etc.

I haven't used the teflon paste, but have heard several people swear by it.

Tape is for in the ground use on sprinklers, and such. Most people do not use the tape correctly anyway. Pump manufacturers are starting to recommend paste rather than tape. There is no need to use both, just a waste of time and money. Use the paste, forget the tape.

Wrap with "Blue Monster" Tef tape+ Tef liquid paste= No leaks and a happy plumber

I always do both and it seems to work great!
