Anyone local with live black worms?

Vapour1ze

I'm an Addict.
Just bought a CBB, really want to see if he will take to Live Black Worms before I place an order overnight from Cali.

Does anyone have any that I could try?

Let me know,
Luke

Try to get him eating something you don't have to scramble to find. I feed my tank mostly frozen Mysis, and that's what my CBB eats. Keeping live worms is a chore, if you can avoid that, I'd recommend that.

I get mine from Coral Reef pet center in Norridge and all the fish love them. I just keep them with a bit of tap water in the fridge and rinse them out once a day, no issues. If i get 4-5 scoops of them it lasts me over a month.

Price?

I'm gonna try some clams if he doesn't take to rods or frozen mysis. I'll know by the weekend! Thanks

Careful, clams are a good way to get them eating, but once he gets a taste for clams, he will not be safe for any tank with decorative clams. I would avoid that option if you can get him to take Mysis.

I never had that kind of luck with them, not even close. I may not have been real diligent about the daily rinse (miss a day here and there), but I don't remember them ever staying alive more than a week.

I've missed a day here and there as well but never had a problem. When you rinse them , the dead ones will float to the top but i have yet to see that with mine. When i initially introduced them to the fish, they were confused and not sure what to do with them..some tried them and liked them right away, others tried and spit them out and others didn't try at all. But after i kept up feeding them they all go nuts over them now, i believe you have to keep trying for a few days until they get used to them.

So I picked up a CBB in November, and for the first, three months, he ate nothing frozen or anything I offered.. He picked at the sand all day getting worms, picked at the rock work constantly and always looked fat, never got tiny.

Out of the blue last week he finally came with the group to where I feed and now is an absolute pig. He almost pushes the other over to get mysis... Not sure what made him change his mind, but he's a very happy fish now, even more so.

Not sure if yours is doing any of the worm eating etc (aptasia as well) but if he is, give'em time.

Actually, I got him on Mysis, and Clam. He was in DT for 24 hours, noticed some small specs on him, thought it was ich and freaked and pulled him and put him into QT! Dosed first dose of copper Saturday night. Sunday morning I saw nothing. Not sure if it was sand or what but I freaked and I'm not taking chances. No other fish in DT show specs, or symptoms so hopefully it was nothing. I have him eating in QT so time will tell. I am going to complete the copper treatment and observe for two weeks before reintroduction to the DT.

Thanks for the info!

Are the white spots like the ones in this thread - http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1020626

Mine had those exact ones and they got really bad - probably about 10 total all on the back fin and one side of the top fin. But if you read that thread like the one poster said if they are not on the mouth area don't worry. Well I didn't and didn't do anything and within a few days they were gone.

xtlosx - That sounds exactly like mine. And I'm hoping my story ends like yours does too! Mine will occasionally like flinch when I feed. It almost looks like a nervous tick or something like that. Doesn't look like hes eating, but he may be. But he's way fatter than when I bought him and looks good so I'm just holding out hope that one day he eats frozen foods for sure. But for now he seems fat and happy with whatever hes getting off the rocks.

No, spots were small. It looked 100% like ich.

Praying it was just sand, but it sure looked like Ich. Just weird how 12 hours in QT the spots were gone.... I know ich falls off and does phases but I don't see anything on him anymore. Time will tell.

Cheers!

Live worms are the most nutritious food we can give to a CBB. I get mine at Animal Island in Midlothian. $14 for half pound, about a cups worth. I feed to all my fish and LPS and NPS corals. They are not hard to keep. Mine are in version of this and are kept at room temp. A half pound will last 2 weeks with daly feedings. Worms are also great for keeping Mandarins. I have two FAT ones.http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f...-212667-8.html?highlight=Black+worms+are+easy

I have two mandarins as well. One green, one spotted and both of them have over ample supply of worms. They reproduce in tanks and is a steady food supply...I actually have to many worms to the point that you can see them everywhere...in the and, sticking out of the sand, even on rocks...
