Anyone mixing D120 with T5?

Update

Update

OK. Here is the update. After weeks (almost months) of waiting I got the new panel on Friday.

This time panel matches the holes. Design is different. After exchanging emails with logan to ask if this panel will come with heatsink it seems this new Panel does not come with heatsink. Also length of power cable is very short. Making it very hard to work with and plug back in when closing unit. Holes are much larger on this panel so screws do not hold it in place. I had to make DIY plastic washer to hold it in place as the ones in my panel can not be removed. I installed this d120 with new panel on the right side of my tank and you can tell how much more blue this panel is. Here are the pictures of new panel.

No Heat sink unlike current reefbreeder panels.

Todays Current ReefBreeder D120 Panel:

I am not sure if I should cut my loses sell my three D120 and find something to do with this panel as I dont think returning is an option. Also Logan was very good at keeping me posted on delivery. To all those with D120 made in early 2013 be careful with upgrading panel as you might bump into these issue.

I will post pictures of full tankshot tomorrow. On this panel I had to set whites to 50% to try to match what I have now and you can still see how much more blue it is. At 100% white and blues take looks like 20k XM MH.

I am going to post my finds on another thread so it can be helpful to others with evergrow d120 looking to upgrade.

imchris,

Yes still in LED. Thanks to reefbreeders and a few more LEDs and a soldering iron. I have now found a careful balance. I am using 8 420 and alot more blues. I only have 12 4500k as my white. The rest is blues ranging from 440 450 460 480. I also have 4 reds.

I am getting great growth and colors. I have recently started selling off frags of ever thing you see there. The two birds nest colonys grow to almost a foot I have sold the.

Next thing I might add for testing is double strip of t8 blacklight uv in the 375nm range. I am waiting on jane_mw to testdrive it on his tank and then maybe start on one side of mine to test if it helps growth or color.

I most say have a long tank and the abilty yo make little frags of the same colony is helpful for testing lights.

Also as an update since I reduced whites 4500k to only 12 I run both channels at 80%

Hope this helps. If you need current layout I can email it.

Yes, please do e-mail me that layout. Chris@AhrensExotique.com Some of the Ebay sellers have these lights under $100 now but they won't let me change the layout. I was thinking it may be worth it to buy them and just order new boards for them. That seems like a waste though. I tried to go on the reef breeders site to check their pricing but it won't let me connect.
