fts? :D

Big at first, but after a couple years I "upgraded" to a smaller tank. I realized water changes are necessary but I hate doing them. Dropped to a 58g so I don't have to lug as much water around. If I had room for a fish room and didn't have to keep everything in the cabinet under the tank (and above the sump) I'd go bigger again.

My only regret is buying a 30" tall tank. I'm too short!

I have a 220 too and at 5'2" I can't do anything without the step stool, Even then I need needle nose pliers to grab onto anything heavy on the bottom. I don't regret going bigger, but if I ever replace this tank, a 72 x 36 x 24 would be a perfect size.

Well in your case you are basically looking at 8' vs 6' and peninsula or not. I have a 375g that is made to be a peninsula but I am unable to set it up that way due to the space in the house. Personally I would go peninsula with a bar lip around it....that way you and your friends can have a beer and enjoy your reef too.
