Anyone running an MTC HSA 3000?

Just curious if anyone has this skimmer and what they think about it. What pump do you use and how loud is it?

I have the ozone reactor and I really like how it is built. I'd like to possibly try this skimmer on my next system.

Don't have it but with the pump recommendation and 2 Venturi I say

say it be pushing some decibels

100rlt eats about $20 a month elect

Premium aquatics has the 100rlt listed @ 380

The caculator shows that to be 33.29 per mth

Looks like it's 5 cents per KWH in Winnipeg which works out to about 13 dollars a month. Still a little excessive.

I have been running this skimmer for almost four years now. Before that I was running the Power Pro IV. The HSA 3000 absolutely rocks. You do need to run a large pump on it, I personally use an Iwaki 100RLT, and it is a bit loud, but I have still yet to come across a skimmer in that size / price range that will out perform it.

im running the HSA-1000 with panworld 150ps or iwaki 55 rlt equivalent. My tank is 300 gallons with mainly sps. this skimmer is great. really simple to use but very effective. i get great growth from all my sps and the water is so clear. im never going back to venturi unless i could afford a deltec.

i too have an HSA skimmer just like the one in your link, only its a single beckett model. I have to say it was the best investment i have made for my tank. only problem is i think i'm under driving it a bit with a md55 but it still keeps my tank crystal clear

get a titanium t4 thats what i ran on my mrc mr2. it worked great on the newer style beckett with the 1" inlet

5 cents a kwh? that is incredibly superlicious amazing! when we go over our alloted 200% usage (very common with large reef tank owners), our rates go up to about 36 cents per kwh.

it would cost me $73.58 a month to run my 70rlt 24/7 and $99.86 a month with a 100rlt.

thank goodness i only run my 70rlt 15 hours per day and i supplement my electrical usage with solar pv panels.

Owned a HSA-3000 skimmer (5 years ago ) , one of the first three produced by MTC , had it signed by leo himself ! I used an iwaki 70rlt and a 100 rlt pump. The only real issue I had was the heat produced into my tank (5 degree's F) from the pumps. I loved the quality of the HSA -3000 and it was one the best skimmers I've owned .

With the significant reduction of piping in the beckett injector it will add a lot of head pressure to the pump therefore the pump will not nearly comsume anything near it's maximum. If i'm not mistaken you have an AquaC skimmer, which also uses a injector that needs a fairly strong pump to work correctly. If you have a kill-a-watt you can test it and see what i mean.
