I just picked up a rock of 35+ dark purple yumas. Are you refering to yumas or florida rics? I'll try to take a pic also when I get home for comparison.

yea, I don't know...they look like rics, but there aren't distinct dimples liek most rics..I might just have really purple rhodactis...pic to come this evening...i'm anxious to see a pic of yours too.

Here you go. The colors didn't come out like I had liked. A little washed out with the flash. But you get the point.

Thanks Eric. I feel I got them for a steal. A LFS had a small colony of around 5-8 decent size orange Florida rics for $70. I said to myself, it looks nice, but not worth it in my opinion (considering I already have a colony). Then I come across this purple yuma colony. My eyes lit up immediately! I started counting 1,2,3.......35! I look over at the price. $70! So I snatched it up in a heart beat. Even today, I noticed a couple more tiny yumas that I didn't count the first time.

Anyway, see if you can get a pic of yours, Grey. I'd like to check it out even if it is a rhodactis.

here's my follow up...
this came into a lfs as a "flores purple ricordea." (flores is an island in the s. pacific somewhere). It wasn't really "open" when I bought it but was incredibly deep purple which was worth the penny IMO. But I really don't think it's a ric, more like a type of rhodactis or something...whatcha think...pics aren't great.

Grey,
I would definately say they are rhodactis. But beautiful ones at that! Your second pic looks crazy with the actinics reflecting off the water/slime. If you want, maybe we could do a thermos swap sometime.
