Anyone seen hummingbirds yet?

can you imagine a hummer flying into a hurricane?!

it's amazing how the seasons can be marked by their arrival and departure.
I'm sad to see they're leaving. It's been a great summer around here.

I think many end up even further south than that. We used to say the hitchhiked in the down of a goose.

my friend told me the exact same thing and was astonished at this, if this can even happen! i need pictures evidence

So I havn't really been able to say anything till now, but we secured permits to acquire hummingbirds at the museum. We released them yesterday and they will be on display starting Thursday. Thought you might like to see some pics of what we have. The birds are still a little nervous of their new surroundings so getting close enough for really good shots is a little difficult at the moment as they are a little jumpy still. We have Broadbills and Anna's, these are all Anna's in the pictures.
