Anyone seen this anemone?

Hi my friend brought me this anemone last week and I love it he set himself there with a little assistance from me.. Anyone kow what he is?

It is a Macrodactyla doreensis (LTA). It should have an orange column on the bottom and brownish on top.

Thanks.. Thats what I was thinkin but they were saying it was a Sebae of which I have 2 & theyre completely different.. Do you think it Dyed that blue or is that a Strain that has been seen? Thanks....

Thats my yellow Sebae I also have a huge one that was white but lost its color and is now almost gray and brown..

the LTAs that are that color are not supposed to be that way. they are "bleached" as the term goes, and lacking a significant amount of their zooxanthellae. the anemone will lose the blueish tint once it begins to regain its zooxanthellae and return to a more natural rich brownish green.

as for the two heteractis crispas you have, one is looking natural and on its way to being a healthy darker green brown, the other one...the one thats as yellow as your yellow tang....is not so good. most definetely dyed. not necessarily fatal, but never a good thing.

I agree with Ron. The M. doreensis is bleached. It's color is typical for LTA. the other two anemones are H. crispa. Both have the same matural coloration which should be brown with slight purple tip when they are healthy (usual coloration for this species). One is bleached and dyed yellow, the other is recovering from being bleached and dyed.

So are they all gonna end up frab and brown in the near future. I hate to give em up and the rip off artists arent fond of returns.
Even my white carpet became brownish after a few months(3 yrs ago). Are their any anemones that actually are colorful? cuz I have a red maroon BTA which isnt dyed..Thank god. How exactly do they dye these poor animals?BTW thanks for the help.

The LTA will either turn a brownish color most likely or die. I have seen carpet anenomes that were extremely colorful.

The Anemones were a gift from my fiends and they thought they were cool which they are, The minute i saw it I figured the blue was dyed,but I had no idea about the yellow Sebae. So there are no yellow sebae that are not dyed?

The blue of the LTA isn't dyed. It just bleached. When it regain its color, the blue will likey be over shadowed bu the brown. It will still have some blue.
I can't help but notice that your Yellow tang is pretty beat-up by some other fish likely the larger Purple tang

No the tangs actually came together. That was because the when I inserted the Yellow and Purple Tangs in. The Sailfin tang asserted his territories to them. Well basically the Yellow tried to push back but submitted eventually after the fact,but the purple is smart he laid low and didnt bother the Sailfin. But theyre getting along better now. The sailfin has been around for a while(3Yrs or so).He was my only surviving fish from Wilma..I had 2 yellows, a purple, and a lg hippo I had had over 3 yrs. Got her tiny and she was larger than my pinktail. I have old pics in my gallery..
