Are bulbs becoming scarce?xm 20ks are discontinued as well??
I bought the last two xm 20k at aquacave today. he said they had been discontinued. he did say they were still planning on restocking the Phoenix 14k the first of next month. Are bulbs becoming scarce?
Are bulbs becoming scarce?
And...whats the science behind that? Anyone?Few months ago I have changed LED to T5. For the last four years (under leds) pH in the tank was oscillating around 7.8-7.9, dispite of the time of the year and the number of windows opened to get a fresh air. Now pH is 8.2 ...
And...whats the science behind that? Anyone?
Cool. Good to know.Increased availability of light that is photosynthetically usable results in increased uptake of CO2 from the water. Increased CO2 uptake results in lower carbonic acid concentration in the water and higher PH.

I'm just about to change from using solely LED to using an LED/T5 hybrid. my PH has been between 8.0 and 8.2, should I be expecting a PH increase now then?
I would not bet on it. I have changed light sources numerous times with no effect on pH. The above post about pH increase due to a lighting is the only case I have heard of and I wonder if the lights are really the cause.

It can if he has enough algae, If there was little algae it would not make a difference. A increase in photosynthesis or increase in growth of algae due to more light sure can cause a rise in ph.
What causes a ph rise during the day?
Why do some people reverse light their fuges at night?
Lighting does not directly affect ph but does so indirectly. Matter of fact the biggest daily ph swings are caused indirectly by lighting if you think about it.
I think the statement that was made about the New lighting and the old LED system not putting out comparable amounts of light is the key here. I had an increase of pH when I switched from LED to T5, but I attribute that to not having enough light output from my LED system.
