Anyone try this?

NYG 010

The man, The Legend
Has anyone had any experience with paring black ocellaris with a regular ocellaris clown fish. I've read many mixed reviews saying they are both the same species so its fine. Others say the black can get aggressive. I would love to hear your guys opinions thanks!

As easy as any other pairing, try either combination, mine would preferably be an female orange occ with a black male/juvi.

I have 2 black with 2 percs. No problems at all. None are hosting the nem they just hang out together in one corner of the tank.

That helps a lot guys can you tell me how you introduced them to the tank and at juvenille ages? Thanks again!

they are in a 26bow... i had two orange for about 3 months and then i was able to score a black so i just pulled one out and swapped her in. so then i had the bw and orange together for about 2 years and the male never wanted to pair. so just here in the last few week i got him out and added a new orange and this new pair are getting along just fine

Sweet! Sounds pretty awesome. What ages do you think I should get the black and the regular ocellaris? Also, how should I introduce them to the tank?

Hey NYG 010, gonna try this also this weekend. I had to donate one of my ocellaris yesterday to my lfs due to both my clowns fighting. Please let me know how your pairing is doing when you get your blk and white oce. What I was going to do was get a much smaller blk and white oce and hope they will get along. I don't really care if they pair up. I just want them to get along and be peaceful. Go Big Blue!!

BIG BLUE FOR LIFE BABY!! haha My clowns are doing great! Not even a single bite or any fighting that I have seen. I did the same thing. I knew the blacks are a little more aggressive (as I hear) so I got a baby black and white and a medium sized regular Occ..They love it! So far so great. Let me know how your hood project goes I need to get on that asap!

hey NY 010, I recently moved to NJ a couple of months ago. Which fish store(s) do you usually go too?

Absolutely Fish is the best rated fish store, Personally there a bit on the pricey side but very very impressed by their selection and quality! The people are very knowledgeable and friendly you should check it out!

I have a pair like this that have been spawning for the last two years. I introduced the b/w juvi to the orange female after her previous mate died. She accepted him right away and they were spawning within weeks. They are hosted by a huge purple base H. magnifica anemone.

Yeah I've been to absolutely fish on route 46 a couple of times. They are a bit pricey but they do have a nice selection. I think I've been to most fish stores in northern NJ.

Keep us updated NYG - I'm looking at doing the same thing. I've had a false perc for a while and it is pretty agressive, so I'm tentative to put any other clown in there, but if I do it's going to try a black ocellaris...
