anyone try zeovit additives to increase color?

Hi, I'm considering using Extra by zeovit to increase colors. I have a variety of sps in a tank with low nutrients. I keep levels low via water changes, bare bottom, GFO and skimming. I think the intensity of my coral colors are not as good as can be because of this. So, does thisproduct work ?

if you have low nutritions and pale colors, Xtra would make color of your acros darker[true color of the tissue] it will also increase growth.

try it at 1 ml /25G of Net water.

if you notice any brown deposits, or brown color in acros, cut it in half or stop.

but I am biased, I run a full zeovit tank, so might wanna wait for none Zeo users to chime in as well :)

HTH.

Interested in what others have to say as well as i feel like my colors could be darker due to my low nutrients.

@ Allmost, which products are you using from Zeo?

Things like xtra and AA's will work but IMO it's much more fun to get some more fish and keep them fat.

I have tried almost all their line up.

for nutrition reduction
Zeostart3, carbon source
Zeo bak bacteria source
Biomate Scavenging bacteria, feeding on mulm.
Zeoliths. media for bak.
Sponge power both nutrition reduction, and helps with purples. [at least in my tank]

as maintanance, I dose Zeozym twice a week, proteolytic enzymes, basically breaks down longer chained proteins to its building blocks, like Amino acids.

for coloring of corals and growth enhancing.
Amino acid, as needed, not much though. maybe once every 2 weeks I dose this.
Xtra, darker colors, I dose when colors of the coral tissue goes whiter, and stop as it regains color. [makes colors kinda flouresence the main difference from AA.]
Coral Vitalizer to make colors more intense, and increase growth, I dose it for 1 week and break for 1 week. [seems to make my corals grow better this way]
B-balance -- lightens tissue colors, makes REDs come out. [purple is red and blue]
Zeo Spure 2, every 14 days
Flatworm stop, so far, better PE, better and more intense colors [I had to cut back on Xtra after starting this] and Hopefully, make my corals stronger to resist flatworms, I do still have flatworms though.

that's prety much it.

I like it, you play with it to get the colors u want. more work than usuall though for sure.

I don't run the full system, but I do add some of their products and always get raves for color and growth. Here are the ones I use:

- Pohls Xtra: really helps improve color.
- Sponge Power: acording to bottle - Helps corals recover (ie from fragging), feeds natural sponge (which help keep water clean) - and I can say that it really does work!
- kliiumiodid-fluor iodide: helps bring out blues - My blues were always purple or brown - they're now blue!
- Coral Snow: helps keep the water clean and helps the coral with additive uptake. I don't know about the last part, but my water is clean and my skimmer is always full.

I've been using these 4 and definately see a difference. I've tried other additives, but hardly notice any change in my SPS

my skimmer does not have much skim mate but the corals are brown and the blues are not coming out

I read that with Zeo tanks often that the glass has to be cleaned on a daily basis. In an ultr low nutrient system I thought algae growth is supposed to be negligible

other way around :)

lower nutritions = less stuff on glass ... therefore less glass cleaning.

but that is if you use Zeovit correctly, and can reach the balance needed for processing all nutritions effectively.

ive been thinking about trying some of the zeo line with vodka dosing but ive been to scared.

I would be carefull trying zeobak with vodka.

bak is different strains, and start3 [carbon source for Zeovit] is mix of many sources, which feeds bak in balanced way. u will get mono culture dosing only vodka and bak ...

vinegar might be a better choice even. IMHO.

i mean the aa and the stuff more for colors

Oh nm to worry about ... If your colors are pale, I'd give extra or coral vit. A try, if corals brown out or algae, then cut down. Dose 2 times a week instead of daily.

I run the full ZEOSystem and have run into very VERY pale colors. I dose AAHC, CV, and Extra only to still experience pale colors. I'm working with G. Alexander, on the ZEO forum, to solve the issue. One recommendation that he shared with me was the addition of Potassium. I've ordered a K+ test kit that will be here tomorrow. I've also ordered Pohl's K-Balance Potassium Strong to help. IMHO, ZEOVit works very well. It's been proven time and time again to increase coloration and growth. Please know that the full ZEO system is not an automatic recipe for success. Every tank is different and will react differently to the ZEO process. Some react quickly, while others take much longer. Some get improved coloration quickly, while others, as in my case, can get VERY pale colors.

I use the following:

Zeobac
Zeolites
Zeostart
Coral Snow
ZeoZyme
AAHC
CV
Pohls Extra Special

Starting tomorrow Pohl's K-Balance Potassium Strong

Warmest Regards,
James
