Anyone up for another 135 Thread?

Hey see if your LFS will QT a fish for you if you want to buy a tang. I love tangs and I really want to get one but the last one died and now my tank is full. I know that you are going to set up a QT but I thought that if you want one now and your not sure how long it will take you to set one up you could ask your LFS to do it for you.

Just a thought, and your tank is coming along nice.

That's a good idea. I know a couple workers there...I'll ask and see what's up. I've decided to get my pair of clowns after I come home from vacation in Newport, RI next week. I leave next Thursday for a week. So Larry will have new friends :D

Don't have a picture, but the valonia looks to be receding! It looks less prominent in the tank; hopefully my tank is finally starting to mature, and the chaeto is doing it's job. All the corals are growing like mad; the palys are going nuts! Three new heads in the past couple of days! The monti is growing insanely fast, the Anthelia is sprouting a new head almost everytime I look at the tank, xenia is being xenia (obvious). I'm moving the Colt down, as it doesn't seem to have adjusted to my light; only fully extends with actinics on, so I will move it down. My Devil's Hand...I'm not sure what growth looks like. It looks a lot more lobed than when I first got it, but it doesn't look very bigger. Does that mean it's growing?

Anyways, yeah, that's the update. School is over basically; four days of finals left. Delicious.

They will hopefully go away on their own when the water starts to mature more. You may want to think about adding a Foxface to the tank, they're different looking and just about the best algae eater out there.

You correctly predicted both! Nice work
Maybe the valonia is retreating their forces behind my rockwork, and are planning massive assault, only to completely massacre my beautiful tank. That would be bad.

Are you still in school? I thought that all 15 year olds got off around early June. Why are you still in there I got out as soon as I could:) :)

We had a lot of snowdays. Originally we were supposed to get out on the 19th, including finals. Now we don't get off until the 24th. We finished all "normal" school yesterday. Just four days of finals left. We have two periods each day. Monday is 8th and 7th, Tuesday is 6th and 5th, etc. The periods are from 7:30am-9:00am(first period) and then from 9:15am-10:45am(second). Then we get to leave. So I get to leave in time to see the Price is Right.

Hey tsquad, your in Connecticut too. Thats cool. Im in New Milford. If you want I can give you some free frags of softies. But youll have to come oand get them. Of course when your ready. I got my ro from filter direct on ebay too. They are great.

I got out June 2nd. We had all of our finals in the regular class schedule so that we didn't have to take them after school was over.

Hello everyonnnnne. Greetings from Newport, RI. I love vacation. I really do. Just got back from fishing, it was good. Two bluefish, decent sized. They should prove to be tasty. Brunch at Castle Hill in about an hour, and I'll have all my fun vacation pictures on Thursday. I took some neat macro shots in some tidepools too.

Anyways, I'm very scared for my tank. I taught my mom how to use a refractometer, so that she could do my topoff (looking into an autotopoff system). All she has to do is turn on the RODI for 30mins when the salinity reaches 1.026. Anyways, I gave her a training session, and she knew how to do it all and everything. I get a call last night, "Honey, the tank hasn't changed salinity in 3 days, I'm assuming that's a good thing? I've checked everyday like you said. Oh yeah, I'm in New York right now until Monday. What? No, I didn't lower the sg to 1.024 before I left like you said. It hasn't changed!"
:furious:

Well, adios for now, as I attempt to relax. Let's all pray for my mom's competency, and my tank's future.

I'm back home, and the tank is ok. The sg is 1.025 exactly, so I guess my mom must've done something right. Everything looks ok, except that there is massive HA growth inside my overflow, and my Devils Hands polyps are retracted. The Devils Hand does that occasionally, so I'll give it a day or two before I get worried. I think I can attribute the HA growth to my skimmer. It overflowed while I was in Newport, so the reintroduction of nutrients into the water probably fed that. Everything else is fine, and I'm assembling my forces to attack the valonia this week.

Good to hear everything is alright. Don't worry to much about the HA in your overflow, your probably right that it came from the skimmer. It will go away by itself if your skimmer does a good job and the rest of your water params are good.

I think I will post some new pictures tomorrow. Sister will be out, and I'm taking some pictures of my 90 for sale. This thread is very boring without pictures, and I haven't gotten any new acquisitions. I may be able to get to the next CTARS meeting, so there is some hope. I will get the clowns sometime in the next week or two also.

It will be fun defeating the valonia. I can taste the victory. My arsenal is huge. :strooper:

I have no pics right now.

The valonia assualt will go as follows:
1. Assemble tarp and 3 44g tubs next to tank
2. Make new SW in two tubs
3. Siphon out water into other tub
4. Take rocks out, and scrub in siphoned tank water tub
5. Rinse in tub two
6. Place back into tank
7. Refill tank with water in third tub
8. Be happy that evil valonia is defeated
9. Buy emeralds if any more little buggers show up

Be careful with your temp....you know what happened to me.

I'm a bit confused, why are you having daily salinity issues anyway?
Are you evaporating that much?

Also, can you give us your current stock list...
I thought I saw somewhere in this thread about you feeding some fish by hand, and it sounds like you've already added more fish since you started...

Good progress so far....but you definately need more pics..:spin2:
