Anyone up for another 135 Thread?

I like the seagrass idea. So that would make it this...20g SPS (no LPS, forgot about the stingers), 20g anemone/clown/zoo/clam, 10g mandarin/seagrass (this will be setup once pod population has grown large enough; in the mean time, it will be a little frag tank). I think that would be really cool.

I do like that idea much better. I knew that you would have ran into problems if you kepted lps and sps together. I like the anemone tank but I think all I would keep in there is the anemones and zoos. You're anemones might grow to big and sting your clams. I would put the clams in the mandarin tank if you have th lighting to do so I think it will look cooler expecially if you don't put any LR in there. That way it will look more like the ocean bed.

Oh, ok its not a big deal though so don't stress out looking for it. I don't have any anemones anyway so its not a problem. I just thought that was a pretty cool thing.

Hm, I guess Mike was wrong..excerpt from WWM:

Well then, I guess in the SPS tank can go either a Maxima or Crocea, and in the seagrass tank can go a Derasa. Hows that sound?

Or you can put all the clams in the sps tank. Then have the clams take up the lower half and the sps take up the upper half. I think this would look the best with the clams and the sps together. This way you can have the planted tank just be plants. And are you going to have mangroves in the seagrass tank.

I think a Derasa would go nicely with the little lagoon. If I put a DSB in the lagoon tank, then I'd have mangroves, but I have no idea how to work a DSB, so I'm not sure what to do.

Me neither when I setup my tank I heard alot of bad things about DSB so I stayed away from them. There are some great threads on them though here and some are pretty recent.

wow i leave for a little while n this thread takes off

How about the clown/anenome tank becomes a symoboiosis tank you could put a yellow watchman goby in a pistol shrimp they wouldnt be hurt by the anemone because they mostly stay in or near their burrows just an idea.

In the SPS tank, I thought I'd have a Sixline Wrasse (to take care of pests and such) and a Fridmani Pseudochromis. Both are equally aggressive IMO, so if I add them at the same time, it shouldn't be a problem. The tank will have an eggcrate cover.

I'll see how the tanks do with the bioload I have set...if they do ok, then I will consider adding a pistol/goby combo. I've always thought those were very cool.

what are you going to do about having a fuge above the 10 to make sure there is a steady supply of pods. also oyu might have to buy some of the packaged pod on hand if the pod dont what to slide down the pvc pipe of doom! and i would also try to get a mandarin that eats frozen foods.this is kinda exciting we are making history sorta buy keeping a mandarin in a 10

To make the fuge, I think I will stack cinder blocks, and put a little 10g on top, crammed with macro, with a drain hole in the corner. The return from the sump will be split again, so there are now 4 exits, and that is how water will get in the fuge. Then the fuge will gravity feed the other tanks. That PVC will be split to go into each tank, so each will get and equal amount of fuge water/pods.

You might want to try to give a little bit more water flow from the fuge to your mandarin tank so that he will get plenty of pods to eat if you can do that will giving the other tanks a decent amount of water. I agree with Matt to with trying to get a mandarin that will eat frozen foods. Since you have him in a smaller tank with no other fish it will be easy for him to see the fozen food and get to it without having to worry about other fish grabbing his food.

Have you decided how much flow is going to go through the fuge?

I haven't decided. All exits will have a gate valve on them, so I can customize it at any time. I can choose to have a Mag18 blasting through the SPS tank and have all other exits closed off (bad idea) or I can adjust it so that each tank will have exactly the flow the inhabitants need.

Or doing something incredible stupid ;) lol no harm intended

Remember finding mandarins that will eat frozen is uncommon, and even ppl with tanks larger than 100g still have a difficult time maintaining them if they don't accept food. My theory on them is to get them into a well established tank so they can be fat and happy and thus more inclined to try other foods/be weaned onto frozen by means it seems only Amanda can do without fail...
