Anyone use an Oxydator?

I've been looking at these with interest, but have a few questions.

You can use 3% h2o2 up to 12% h2o2 in one of these. Does the higher percentage mean a greater release of o2?

I'm dosing h2o2 at the moment for Lyngbya bacteria (aaaarrrrgggghhhh) , and wondered how to equate my current dosing to the use of an Oxydator?

Thank,
Craig

Interesting. I didn't know about these things. I would be worried about something happening to release all the H202 at once poisoning the tank. I've dosed and dipped with H2O2.

I didn't know about them either until a couple of days ago, but they've been in use mainly in Europe for almost 25 years now. Read some flowing reviews from Reefers who do use them.
So I've taken the plunge and bought one - will see how it goes.

Yes, higher concentrations release oxygen faster. I’ve been running a D model for about a year. Very happy with the unit.

The Oxydator should not have a noticeable effect on your H202 dosing. Very little solution escapes out of it without being converted to 02

I'm waiting on an A model.

Just so I understand correctly, are you saying that you can run the oxydator alongside h2o2 dosing? Or is continued dosing no longer required.

What percentage h2o2 do you use?

Do you keep yours in your sump? I've read that some keep them in the main display.

You can run your H202 dosing at the same level, but hopefully tail it off and eliminate it eventually. One of the benefits of an Oxydator is it seems to suppress nuisance algae, cyano and dinos.

I run mine at about 8%. You can buy 34% H202 as "œliquid oxygen" at any hydroponics store and then dilute with RODI. Just keep in mind that 34% H202 is seriously caustic and a splash can blind you. Serious goggles and gloves territory.

Mine is currently hidden in my main display, but going into the sump of a build I am finishing up next week. If you use it in a sump, place it right by the intake of your return pump if you can. That will pull the highly oxygenated discharge right into your display.

Thanks for clarifying.

I've been battling Dino that just hangs in there.
I'm dosing morning and evening, and hoping that the introduction of the oxydator will help move things along by increasing O2 levels.

I've ordered 6% h2o2 to use for now.
I'll look at the hardcore stuff when this runs low.

Good luck and you're welcome!
Hi SDK,

I've just gone to fill the container for the first time and peroxide has leaked out of the bottom.
See the picture, the end cap isn't on properly.
Is this right?
