Anyone use Reborn media?

I just fired up the ol calcium reactor and filled it with two little Fishies reborn media.

Anyone use it?

What PH do you use?

I use it on a MRC calcium reactor. It's the best so far with clean dissolution , no residue. I keep the pH at 6.5

1+, but im still messing with my ph. My CaRx is way over rated for my tank so still in the 7.5 range for an alk in the 10 dkh range.

Just bought a peristalsic pump for it, will set up soon. Hopefully this will help the inconsistence of it running on a T off the manifold. Also just stopped dosing Kalk to eliminate that variable.

IMHO your question of media and Ph range alone is missing a few variables.

Nope, i've found the answer I was looking for My ph is set higher than 6.5 Based on my testing and consumption. Although i'm still in the adjustment phase.

Let me know if that pump is quiet. Im using the "gravity" method and would like to go with a adjustable peristaltic pump. Just cant afford the quiet dc pumps and they are too big. Would love to see an affordable, quiet pump rated for continuous duty.

When i did what you said, and put it at ph 7, my alk spiked to 12+. Some corals STN'd. Im still in the Ph high 7 range with alk of 10. no more losses. the proof is in the pudding, lol. :fun4:

you also asked me to run my reactor based on effluent alk level. Are we still in the 70's?, FYI- Carter is no longer President. What kit meaasure alk in the 30dkh range without spending $50 a month on ALK reagents.

I never told you at 7, always told you about 6.5 and to control the amount of alkalinity via the amount of effluent out of the reactor but of course that wasn’t what you thought it should be and you decided to venture your own way anyway, I have been using Calcium reactors for a very long time here is the proof of my pudding Hillary

BTW in order to measure Alk that high all you need to do is lower the amount of water on the test by ¼ and multiply the result by 4

Yeah Eddie. I was going to say you need to lower your effluent rate if your alk is that high.

Or if you are running it wide open, slow down the feed pump.
