Anyone using MarinePure Ceramic blocks on their SPS tank? (or something similar)

Acros & Wrasses
Posting here because I'm hoping some of you SPS guys use this stuff successfully. I'm somewhat worried about the leaching aluminum being reported, and the effects it could have on the SPS.

If you use something similar, I would love some insight on it as well.

I will be starting up my 80g in a few months and I already have some SPS frags, blue squamosa clam, large duncan colony, and fish (from my brothers tank breakdown and my 20g breakdown) so I need to be able to jump start my tank with no issues. I plan on cycling this media in my brothers running 82g to help the bioload when I transfer. It will also be nice to have considering I plan on using plastic rocks and very minimal aquascape.

I also plan on using Prodibio Biodigest and Biotim for a while, so that should help as well.

My LFS uses this product on all three of their main systems. All of their live stock and corals seem to be thriving with no ill effects. I asked the owner what she thought about the leaching aluminum from the marine pure blocks and she simply chuckled and was the least bit worried about the small amounts being introduced. I plan on using the marine pure blocks in my new system as well. I would love to hear from others who have had long term SPS success using this product.

I'm interested as well. I'm in the process of tearing down a couple of 50ish gallon tanks and putting in a DSA 135 gallon. I'm intrigued by the results people have reported in other threads.

Never understood why you wouldn't just use rock. Plus if you needed a piece for scaping or frag placement, its there in your sump for the taking all nice and live.

I've used live rock in the sump in the past. I could never stay on top of the detritus buildup over time. I'm also planning on using less rock than standard in the display, so I'd like something to make up the difference. I looked at Siporax as well, but doesn't have the same capabilities due to it being ring shaped instead of a block.

Potentially limited space in my sump, still to be determined.

I went ahead and bought a block, however I don't know if I'll use it long term. People have had success with it and I'm probably just being cautious, but growth could be stunted or slowed by it which is my main concern.

My tank isn't wet yet, I've had it aging in my brothers system for a couple of weeks now and so far so good. I think it's too soon to give a review.

I introduced MP into a thriving reef tank. Immediately after introduction all polyps retracted. 2 weeks later I have lost numerous SPS. I've been looking for answers and it seems I'm not the only one this has happened to.

In all fairness I did not wash the product well. But anything that can wipe a tank if not thoroughly rinsed I don't want.

I use it in my sump to raise my skimmer. The product is extremely porous and I believe has had a positive effect in the biological filtration

I'm about to order a 8x8x4 block myself. I've also done a ton of research on these since I also read where they can leech aluminum. From what I've read there are fake MarinePure blocks for sale out there, especially ebay and amazon. These fake blocks are the ones leeching the aluminum not the real MarinePure products. Just make sure you purchase from a reputable seller and get the real deal.

I've had one in my tank for a little while now, and in a previous system for a couple of months to get a jump start on maturing. So far I've not noticed any negative effects, at least obvious ones. I think they are mostly safe as far as the alumina/aluminum leaching goes.

I wish I had known about matrix/siporax before buying it though, thing still has me wondering if my acros could be doing better.

I'm running siporax in a reactor in my 60 gallon.
