Anyone using these lights?

A couple new pictures:

Actinics Only:

Just ordered the lights on 3/17/2005. I also ordered a couple coralife 10k bulbs from hellolights. Ill post if any problems and such.

I got the new bulb.. lense and Fan today... thanks goodness !!!

I noticed on the bulb it says blue.... is this a blue colored bulb or is it an actinic .....its alot bluer then the "purple" actinic I have....

the light is nice... once I get the new fan installed I think I am going to love this fixture.

the 14000k bulb seems considerable "yellower" then the 10000k
bulb my orbit fixture. But BOY is this sucker Bright....

Two switches.. one control both lights and fans it's either all on or all off.. even though there is 2 seperate switches mounted to the
fixture case.... I can't imagine why.. I got the biggest light set up made for this length fixture.. the dual bulb dual fan model... there isn't any room to add anything else so I am pussled why there would be an additional switch not going to anything... I wish I knew enough about these to take it apart to wire the blue bulb to one switch and the white to the other

its prob just a "blue" bulb peaking at 460nm or 7100k blue- one way to tell is that it wont flouresce your corals as a true actinic would.

This guy is in Austin, I have bought a few things from him, with no complaints. He has a online store also that sells these oddesea fixtures. http://superfishstore.com/

Most of the larger fixtures say "**FOR LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY**" though. Nice site though.

I love your lights guys. Can we see some pics of the tank in the room with the lights off? I'd like to see how these are mounted and the overspill of the light into the room.

Warboc, nice tanks. What do you have in the corner tank? Seahorses?

Just copying this exactly from another thread I have going:

"The new tank is of course on the right. My old 30 gallon fw tank is in the middle. I have a pair of beatiful hand-size angelfish in there along with some fat healthy tetras. On the left you can see part of my old 55 fowlr tank, which by the way is starting to look more and more like a real tank every day thanks to the help of people here."

Any of you who would like to tag along on my tank thread and subscribe to it, feel free to do so. Here is the link to the thread:

i just saw these guys with an ad in the back of 'Tropical Fish Hobbyist' i think. I'll have to recheck.

I told a friend to order from them, as I got one of their 24" with no issues. I guess his unit would smoke a little bit, and smell like burning wire. Well he ofcourse tried to get a RMA/Return. And I guess he went through hell to get a hold of them.

They may be swamped, but they need to work on the Customer Service.

I wonder if there is any other shop that imports these and sells them for as low.

I did a little mod to the mh fixture. I added 4- 65w coralife actinic pc and some DIY LED moonlights

Total watts now 560W

Also added two other powercords. One for the pcs so they can be on a timer and the other for my moonlights.

How did you add a plug? I want my supplements to run independently on a different timer so i can simulate dusk/dawn. thanx. Nice mod btw.

drill a hole and use a three prong powercord... like a computer power cable just cut the end off. These pictures are bad but it gets the idea out there.

New wiring

remember the yellow colored wire is use to power the T5 on the fixture too. the other colors I made up.
Just cut the white wire from right switch that leads up to the fuse...then cut the black wire that come out the yellow coded cord, and connect it to the black wire from the new power cord.
connect the white wire from the new power cord to the other end of the wire which used to be connected to the fuse.
I also put a switch for my moonlights.

I have a question on these Odyssea MH lights. They have the 48" 434w one now with the 175wx2 mh now with the 4 t5 bulbs. Are these the same exact lights as the 150wx2 one with just 175w bulbs? Are the ballast the same?

One way to find out. Look at the actual ballast and compare it to the ballast pics I posted early on in this thread.
