Anyone using these lights?

Sure Warboc, basically I took the top cover off my canopy. I cut my four bulb VHO reflector in two pieces and mounted each half further apart to allow the new Odessa fixture to sit in the middle. I just turned off the T5's in the Odessa. I may put the actinic T5's you found in there at some point but right now I have actinic overkill. You know overall I'm pretty happy with the Odessa, if they would have put maybe 2 48" VHO actinic in there it would have been better than 4 21w NO t5's I think.
 
Warboc, with the T5 actinic replacements, does your corals glow like if you were using vho actinics? How does it compare to the stock T5 bulbs that it came with?
 
Peezee, I've never seen VHO actinics in person. So I can't answer that question.

I'll try to post a few shots tonight. I'm replacing the standard 20k MH with the XM 10k's tonight so I'll try to post a bunch of comparison pictures as well.

Hey Warboc I have a question. When you recieved your T5 bulbs from reeflighting did you have any problems with broken bulbs? Becuz I just recieved the 4 bulbs but havnt got my MH fixture yet. I opened the package on the bulbs and they arnt broken from the outside but, on 3 out of the 4 bulbs i hear something inside moving around in the bulb. Going from one end to the other when I flip them back and forth. Something is jiggling in there and im not liking the sound of it. Does that mean there broken for sure?

Not sure if this will help, but when I bought some PCs from a LFS I had the same noise your refering to and the bulbs were indeed broken. Hope this isn't the case for you. Good luck.
 
As promised here a few shots I took last night. Sorry I have a lousy camera and I'm not good at taking pic's but here goes.

This the fixture sitting on the top of my canopy after I removed the top. The VHO's are two on each side of the fixture.

This is the new 10K MH with 3 actinic and 1 white VHO. The bulbs haven't burned in yet so I expect the color to shift.

Nice pics polcat, Looks great. On a side note, I called marineandreef.com about the bulbs and they said that they all tend to have some type of loose glass inside the bulbs and not to worry to much.
 
Thanks for the kind words. I may end up getting some of those t5 actinics, don't know yet. Going to let these new MH's settle in for a while.
 
from what i have read its all about their "live stock" , and that they have alot of fish die .

i am concerned about their lighting , not if they let some false perc clowns die ( its not like reef fish are harvested out of the ocean in most cases )
