Marcelo, can you set the timer to turn on the antics and mh on/off independently?

I'll answer in case they are gone. That can be one very easily with the timer, yes.

looks like you guys got some pretty nice lights for the price, i'm going to try to talk the wife into letting me order a set of these!

As Warboc replied, yes you can.

I currently have a set of DIY Moon lights that go on around 0600, the Actinics come on around 0900, and the MH are set for 1000. MH go off around 2000, Actinics around 2100, and the DIY Moon lights around 2300.

Okay I have 2 each of the Jebo 48" 4 X 55 W light units and the 2003 Protien Skimmer. I have had the lights about 2 years and one skimmer 2 years and the other one has been running for a year now. These are great for the price and actually work very well. I will be using these items when I set up a tank for my Mom in the next couple of weeks. However they will come from Aquadeal on Ebay as I have dealt with him for most of my tank equipment, IE expensive stuff that is just to expensive at the lfs.

You will definitely like this fixture if you get it. There is nothing cheap about it in my opinion.

As mentioned earlier, the MH bulbs are the only thing I have any issue with. As you can see earlier in the pictures I posted, there is a slight difference in the light color of each MH bulb.

No big deal though as I would be replacing the bulbs in a few months anyways. It may be sooner though unless I can adapt to the difference between the two sides. :eek1:

What length bulbs do you think those actinics are? They seem to be 34" bulbs to me, but I never seem to know how to measure a bulb properly heh....

One other comment, some people have said early on in this thread that the actinic bulbs they received in other fixtures look painted. To me, the ones in this fixture do not look painted. They put out a nice color light.

I'm thinking the length is 30-32, but like you I'm not sure how to measure the bulb.

I haven't been able to find replacement T5 bulbs anywhere.

Marcelog and Warboc thanks for the info. Questions: Marcelog did you get a timer like Warboc's? What is the purpose of this big timer unit? What is special about it? Also, do you guys think this light fixture could be installed in a canopy, or does it need to be on the metal legs? Also, does it have fans and are they noisey?

looks to me like the timer and ballasts are all housed togethor, hence the size.......I will do everything I can to avoid using a canopy, because of the heat issue......I do know this unit is supposed to come with a hanging kit too

thanks for all the pics and info guys.....

warboc...... I am an ex coona$$......lived in the "red stick" for 10 years!!!

After reading reelfreak's post, I would imagine it houses the ballasts as well. I am new to MH lighting of any sort so tell me what to look for ballast-wise and I can tell you if the ballasts are in the main fixture or not. As I said earlier, the timer unit is quite heavy for its size.

It does come with a hanging kit... I could never hang such a large fixture above a tank though and sleep well at night heh...

Hello all,
Last Saturday morning i ordered the JEBO 48' lights. Here are the details.

Item Name: JEBO 48" COMPACT FLUORESCENT 220W
Item Options: Color: Black
(6)six month Extended Warranty: NONE

Quantity: 1

Total: $99.00 USD

Cart Subtotal: $99.00 USD
Sales Tax: $0.00 USD
Cart Total: $122.05 USD

I paid through paypal. The light came the following Friday, 6 days later after i placed the order. I am 120% satisfied with the purchase, good quality. I would recomend them to anyone. The best part of it all is the cost. Everywhere else was twice as much.

well, the reason you are having a problem finding replacement t5 bulbs for this fixture is that they are probably not HO t5 lights. which is fine, since the bulk of the lighting is taken care of by the MH lights.

36" (really 34.5") t5 ho bulbs are 39 watts each. the non ho ones are less watts. can you swap to the higher wattage Ho bulbs? probably, but you would probably need to upgrade the ballast for the t5 s. a workhorse5 will do the trick for cheap. i ahve a w5 running my 3x39 t5 ho retrofit and it has a few watts to spare.

anyone try that 50 dollar cpr copy skimmer? i may have to if nobody else does....

I've seen the lights in person and the quality looks excellent for the price. I was a bit worried about it's reliability. You can't really buy anything these days that isn't made in China. My Coralife PC fixture is made in China. So are my moonlights and skimmer. My friend's Rotel receiver (A British company) is made China. My Kensington Turbo Mouse that I'm using right now is made in China. So is this wireless Logitech mouse. They all work fine. I'm going to get their 24" MH fixture when it becomes available and will do some burn in tests (eg. lights turned on but not on the tank for a couple days). Aquatraders had their 48" MH fixture on and it didn't seem hot to the touch at all. Just warm.

I would never trust that much electricity, heat, and general fire potential to a cheap Chinese import hood from 99 fish (AKA Aquatrader). If your house burns down who do you sue? Some shadow company in China? Good luck with that. Stay with American brands with good liability insurance and proven track records. Even the American Brands that import their hoods are insured in the US and have a place to handle claims in the US. Just my 2 cents. Aquatrader was 99 fish, was Aqua 123, was Aquarium Seasons was.... Why the name changes? Why does the owner of record's name constantly change but the same people are always there? If it looks too good to be true......
