Anyone using these lights?

from what i have read its all about their "live stock" , and that they have alot of fish die .

i am concerned about their lighting , not if they let some false perc clowns die ( its not like reef fish are harvested out of the ocean in most cases )

you would be suprised how many fish are harvested out of the ocean

yes, thats all i really want to know about, Im about to order 3 of their T5 units but I wanna know if its worth it first

I just recieved my order of the 108w T5's from aqua traders. I have to say my Dual Sat PC (192w) produces so much more light in the tank.

Overall, for $50 you cant beat the price, but if I could do it over I would buy their MH combo for $270 or their PC lights. The T5s are alittle dull in my opinion. 1 set is def not enough for my 75 gallon tank. With both lights My tank is def lit, but I dont think ordering 3 sets would be the best thing.

I also picked up their moon lights, 2 2o inch strips, and they are awesome, well worth the $30. Awesome blue coloring cant wait till it gets dark tonight.

My 175W MH 24" fixture still going strong. Running 8-10 hours/day for the last 3 months. All my corals, anemone and fish growing very well. :) However, if I had to do it over again, I would have gone with a custom canopy and MH retro.

How do the moon lights look? it looks like there are enough LED's in there to light the tank by themselves during the day.
My question is are they too bright?

I know there is mix feelings on ordering from aquatraders but to me they seem like a pretty decent company. I ordered the MH fixture for 329.99 and after tax and shipping it was 377.88. Well like a day or two after I ordered it the price went down 50 bucks to 279.99 as a special until the 10th. I called them and told them the day after I ordered it, your light went on sale and that sux. So the manager "elvis" was nice enough to add a moonlight strip to my order also to make up for that 50 dollar price drop.

If you aren't going to get good T5's I'd probably look hard at PC's. If you can get 200 watts of T5 for the same price as 200 watts of PC's go for it but if 2 54 watt T5's look dull (as mentioned by another poster) these things must be junk.

The fixtures sold by AT are normal output T5 bulbs - not the type of newer high output T5 bulbs that are commonly sold now for reef tanks.

Im thinking about the A.T. 48" halide setup or doing a vho/2x250w retro and wondering why you say you would gone retro instead?

I like the price and the convience of the fixture, but I'm worried that the t-5s are just gonna be junk and its gonna cost me more money in the long run.

Are you sure about that, because AT has 2 types of T5's reg ones and the HO ones

Nope, not sure. Was basing it off comments from people within thread wh said they are not very bright. So assumed the bulbs were same type as what's in my fixture.

I ordered 2 20 inch moon light strips, they are awesome. Not too bright, and not dull. I def recommend them

I will try to post some pics tonight.

the pc lights are alrioght... the "blue" light needs to be replaced with a true actinic and the 12000k looks more about 9000k color...
and the fans are noisey (cheap CPU fans)
I replaced the fans with better cpu fans and for the extra money I spent to replace those things to make it comperable to a nice fixture I might have saved 10 bucks... I had to wait over a week to get it and it was damaged in shipping and bulbs aren't covered in there shiping policy....just my experience.. I love cheap stuff..
this is cheap stuff.. but it was a time when It could have been would have been better to spend the extra few dollars for the better fixture.
the dual 96 watt pc fixture with fans was 80 dollars plus shipping 120.... then broken bulb was 40 to replace (would have replaced anywhy though becuase it is blue color not true actnic)
and 10 dollars more for 2 better fans.... so about 160 total...
I could have gotten an orbit or something.
