Anyone w/ a Clown Tang

I had one for a year in a 280g. He was hands-down the meanest fish i've ever owned.
Got rid of him so i could have some other tangs. But he was healthy and happy and fat.

I guess at this point, you probably aren't considering adding another tang, since he probably considers himself the boss of the tank :fish2:

He doesn't seem that aggressive but is constantly eating/swimming. I've been wanting to add an achilles but I think that would be asking for trouble.

thats is a freaking awsome picture!!!

Is this tank in your home or is it in a lobby somewhere??
because i am local to the bay area and, damn, i'd love to see that tank!

thanks for the pic!

Thanks! My coworker Rich Ross took it. It's here:

www.calacademy.org

The tank is still "young", and corals are just getting started. But the fish pop'n is great and if you want to see lots of pairs and groups of tangs schooling together and interacting you could spend hours watching.

totally off the thread subject...

I am curious to know if you guys at the academy experimented with LED lighting, if so, any opinions?

feel free to PM or me a response :beachbum:

Great fish, when it's left in the ocean... Probably has about the worst surival rate among fish that have been proven to be possible to keep longterm. The problem with a Clown Tang vs. say a Regal angel is that they typically turn into nightmares aggression wise once they get bigger.

Following on from my vid above I snapped a pic of him today.

I only had my CT about 4 months now. I purchased him when he was about 2 inches for
$20 at my LFS. He's 3 inches now and shows no real aggression yet. I have him in a
240g soon to be mixed reef tank. He eats everything I put in there Including NLS Pellets.
His tank mates are
Juv. Emperor Angel 4"
Sailfin Desjardini tang 4"
Yellow Tang 4"
Powder Blue Tang 4"
Blonde Naso Tang 3"
Maroon Clown fish 4"
Spotted Mandarin 1"

Those are some awsome pictures. I have had my clown for about a year now and has only shown me a little teritorial aggression if I'm trying to pickup some rock that fell down.
