Anyway to stop a hammer coral from receding/melting

My hammer coral fell over last night and fell face 1st into the sand bed, now this morning one corner has melted tissue on one corner. How do you keep it from getting any worse. I have a feeling its going to keep melting and lose the whole thing.

I would just make sure it has no debris or sand stuck to it that could be causing it to shed. put it in the sand bed under average light and dont move it. Make sure flow is not real strong on it. It should not be blowing around alot. Other than that, theres not much else. A dip will stress it out more. These things happen in the wild all the time. Just make sure you params are spot on and it should heal fairly quickly. Good Luck!

I have had something similar happen to me, and it was fine in a few days. I once did a water change and did not pay attention and sucked several pieces of flesh off the coral and into my bucket. I totally freaked! But I left it alone and it was fine in a few days.
