AP701 or Bk Mini 200?

I took it completely apart tonight. I would say once the skimmer was out of the water I could have the impellar out in under 3 minutes as long as I had a phillips and flathead screwdriver. Very easy to take apart and all the parts can be completely disassembled for cleaning. Even the neck of the skimmer is a press fit with an O-ring so that can be removed from the cup for easier cleaning. That would come in handy if you used the hole that is already drilled in the cup and attached a collection container to the cup. You could then just remove the neck for cleaning while leaving the cup attached.
 
That is what I was afraid of. I was spoiled with running my AP600 external. Very easy to shut off the skimmer, close a few valves, and remove the pump for cleaning. From those pics I would have to pull the whole skimmer from the sump to clean a pump.

From BK's rep I would believe and trust in the skimmer. Is this the first skimmer I have seen built with the pump inside.. well yes.. Maybe for some this is not a concern. Are all those screws going to rust? ;)

Please give us some feed back after your purchase and keep us up to date. In my other post I asked about a MRC vs Deltec. I had not considered the BK. I think in the end after having my AP600 like you I am going togo with an AP851. Why fix something that isn't broke. Just go bigger.

All screws are plastic except for the pump cover screws.
 
Well after debating the past few days I decided on the BK mini 200. Ordered from premiumaquatics. Will be here Tuesday. I can hardly wait!!

I have a 75 gallon oceanic tank I am setting up asside to my 120 so I might be getting a APF600. Ill be keeping the name!! :)
 
i definately think you made the right decision, i think it's just made alot better than the deltec.
you also have something that represents a more modern design,
and there's no doubt the high performance is there with the pumps they are using.
i'll bet there will even be a nice alloy mesh wheel available for it before too long:)

LOL I been drooling all over the bubble king mini ever since Klaus introduced them in the other forum about a year ago. The performance pics really sealed the deal for me and the excellent craftsmanship that is put into the skimmer design. The only thing that I was concerned about was the pump problems they had in the past and cost of replacement ($780). But if you take care of the pump it should last. LOL if that alloy mesh is added on the Bk mini 200 man that sucker might be turned into a geyser but who knows. I wonder how long the durability of the mesh will last on the alloy. Now I will have to decide if I want to try one of those mini red dragons as a return. It isn't cheap!!

Damn that would be good but the BK mini 200 pulls 1000 LPH of air and moves about 528 gallons of water while the APF600 has about 500 LPH of air and moves 210 gallons of water. I think the AP701 would be more of a interesting face off. I will say if I am not pleased with the performance of the BK, I will not hesitate to sell it and go to a AP701. But I am pretty sure I will like the BK.

Thanks man. LOL and I am keeping my name because I will be getting another deltec but I like my Lineatus as my avitar. Maybe I will show a BK nog shot in the cup as an avitar for a while.

i think, it is not possible for using the new HastelloyC-meshwheels for the Mini BK´s. This wheels-technologie are to strong for the Minis.
Look, the 200 Mini BK make minimum 1000 Liter/h airintake, in US-voltage, 1100 Liter airintake. This is enough for the Mini BK-Design. More airintake destroyed the foamstability and reduce the skimmerperformance. It is no problem for make airintake 1500 or 2000 Liter/h, or the skimmer was not better. More airintake, less and wet skimmate

Klaus those alloy meshwheels look sweet. Out of curiousity, how are the durability of these alloy meshwheels compared to the regular ones being used by ATI bubble masters?
