I took it completely apart tonight. I would say once the skimmer was out of the water I could have the impellar out in under 3 minutes as long as I had a phillips and flathead screwdriver. Very easy to take apart and all the parts can be completely disassembled for cleaning. Even the neck of the skimmer is a press fit with an O-ring so that can be removed from the cup for easier cleaning. That would come in handy if you used the hole that is already drilled in the cup and attached a collection container to the cup. You could then just remove the neck for cleaning while leaving the cup attached.
