APEX Blackberry app in the works

Cant wait

Cant wait

My bold 9700 cant wait for the app. Tired of looking at a tiny status screen and having to zoom in to do anything

In the meanwhile have you checked out TankManager (kenargo.com); it is designed specifically for small screens like phones.

I have been using it on my Bold 9000 for quite sometime now and it it great!. But I don't know why even I check the Remember Me box during logon, it still doesn't save the logon inofrmation and I have to enter the login name and password thte next time.

I also use TankManager on my BB 8900 and it works great! No issue remembering my user/password.

Are you clearing cookies? There is an encrypted cookies for 'remember me'.

As an alternative you can try TankManager 2 (link on my home page under Apex utilities. TM2 is a cookie based TN; no account needed but the same abilities as TM1 though slightly different presentation.

I tried TankManager2, but I must be doing something wrong with the Hostname / Public IP?

What goes in Tank Name? Anything you want to designate?

The IP of the Apex is 192.168.1.50 and the public web address is http://milkman55.ath.cx/status.sht

I tried both and keep getting the connection error message. I can connect to the Apex from my Blackberry Bold using the http://milkman55.ath.cx/status.sht without any problems. I know the userid and password I am using are correct because I log in everyday with them.

What am I missing?

I had to put this on hold for a while. I have been soo busy with other projects. I have a version that will give you the tank status of the outlets and the temp and ph ect. pm me your email address and I will email it to whoever wants it.

The HostName/IP is the address of the controller; like you would enter to access the controller via the web (not including 'http://' just the url.

Tank Name is anything; it is used to let you know what you are connecting to (especially if you have > 1 controller).

Ah, Ken, Looks like you need to add the same user-friendly error checking that I do!

Yea, I think, since this is very common, that I'll add code to ignore it if the text is there and not so worry about the user's input as it is easy to recover from.

I have attached the app to this post in 2 seprate zip files. You will need to unzip both and place the jar file in Apex_V0.0.2\Apex_V0.0.2\5.0.0 folder.

You will need to use the blackberry desktop manager to install it on the phone. You will also need a 5.0+ operating system. Any questions pm me and i can send you the setup doc.

THis is the version seen here:

Awesome. I do plan to finish this up. But at least for now i can give what i have done so far free to everyone.

I know this is old...but was it ever completed? Yes some of us still hang on to our work horse blackberry.

In fact I am the only one in the house that does not have I Phone.....

I searched on my app world but could not find anything. Looks liek a lot of hard work went into this and it just died or something.

I understand the demand may not be as high for it.

Is anyone using blackberry if so what are you using for the APEX?

2 things happened

1. I got an IPhone
2. Too many other projects came up.

There is a version attache in one of the posts that will at least display tank stats. That is where I left off. I would like to finish it one day but time is scarce these days :(
